All animals and plants that reproduce sexually can develop sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Of course most people only hear about them in humans, because it is so common among the human population.

I know there is a feline HIV, which affects domestic cats and cats such as cheetahs.

Sexually transmitted diseases do exist in animals. In fact most diseases originated in animals. For example, syphilis originated in sheep, AIDS was transmitted to humans by monkey bites, and most strains of influenza originated in chickens.

Well, syphilis came from sheep and HIV is related to a disease found in monkeys. But, these STDs are not normally deadly in the species that they are natural to, only when it crosses species. Domestic cats who are kept out doors frequently pass nasty diseases from one to another, some of them STDs, some of them by fighting or sharing saliva. That's why it's important not to abandon domestic animals and to keep their shots up to date.

To certain people: if you read the question, you may realise he asked if animals can catch STD's from each other, not if he can catch STD's from them. Please read the question properly, not everyone here is a "sicko"

As for my answer, I'm not really sure, you'd think so. Not really fair otherwise, hehe.

I know cats can get feline aids, but it cant be passed on by humans to cats and cats cant pass it on to humans. My friend had a cat that got raped and he got aids and then later died. I thought she was joking when she told me, but i asked the vet and he said its true.

Roy, always use a condom when sleeping with an animal. You don't know if they're being honest about their sexual history
