I'm not overweight at all; I'm thin, in fact. I have PCOS and have been taking birth control for a year, but I want to go get my blood sugar checked soon. I exercise about 2 to 3 hours per week, doing intense cardio. I used to do 6 and a half hours per week of cardio until I got a job and it became harder to fit exercise into my schedule. I'm scared about finding out my health status, but I'm also scared about developing diabetes. I guess I have to crack out of this shell of fear I'm in and go and help myself.

reversible? probably not, manageble yes,
as to strict diet? rigourous exercise? probably not
any improvement in diet no matter how minor and any additional exercise (preferably light exercise if losing fat is the goal) are going to be beneficial...
if your already on a good diet and have some exercise, then you'll find benefit from stepping up a notch...
as to if you can prevent diabetes, I'm not sure, but you can make sure you do things healthier for you than you were already doing... thats got to give you a better chance against any condition you might have... strengthens your immune system makes you healthier, its got to be a good thing... and if it also assists agianst your pre-diabetes... then bonus!...
Even with full diabetes (type one or two) healthy lifestyle is the best way to "fight" it... (along with medications, and some deitary alterations, etc...) it also helps to know your BGL (blood glucose level) you might find monitoring how your Glucose levels fluctuate along with your diet and over time... but you need a meter for that, and it requires pricking your skin to collect a small blood sample each time...
Also any time you feel shaky Eat! Many diabetics get "warning signs" that somethings wrong before something goes drastically wrong.... its not so obvious for the other end of the scale, "spikes" in BGL/sugar levels can have devastating effects...
But thats mostly for (at least) Type Two diabetics, prediabetic people may or may not experience the same issues...
Hope this helps... and if your still concerned... go see a doctor, they'll probably be able to answer these questions better than I

It depends on the reason why you are resistant. If it's like Stein- Levinson Syndrome or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, you may require further intervention. But it definitely will benefit you to follow a good diet with no concentrated sweets and exercise regularly. This can discourage development of "full blown" diabetes.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.
And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

Watch your diet closely, try to walk 15 or 20 mins. a day, Keep your weight in a healthy range. 1/4 teaspoon of ground Cinnamon a day is supposed to help; also, according to Dr. Williams news letter 2 Tablespoon of vinegar in water before meals helps. When my doc informed me I am pre diabetic, I tried the above and it worked for me. Good luck.

prediabetes is a nice way of saying that you have diabetes but your blood sugars haven't reached dangerous levels and they won't if you stick to a diet and exercise regimen. should you not follow your doctor's recommendations now, you will need to add medication and maybe insuline to control your diabetes. blood sugar that is above the normal average is diabetes. the term prediabetes was invented to help those people who are in denial. so, live like you are a diabetic. eat healthy fruits, vegies, berries, whole wheat, whole grain, high fiber carbs, low/nonfat dairy products, soy products, and lean proteins. get plenty of exercise everyday and make sure to drink plenty of water, green tea, high quality, nutrient dense, high antioxidant fruit juices. eat 3 moderate meals a day and 3 snacks. see your doctor every 3-4 months. my doctor never tells people they are "prediabetic"...it just gives them a reason to be in denial and eases their minds. diabetes is not a death sentence. the disease is very manageable and one can live a long, quality life if they take care of their health and diabetes. good luck
