Vegans, Vegetarians, Pescetarian VS Carnivores and Omnivores

On one side you could say - it's natural, predator eats prey, dog eats dog

On the other side you could say - there's enough meat substitutes out there that we shouldn't have to kill anything.

Or you could say eating animals is OK providing they are kept and killed 'humanely'. (If it's possible to 'kill' 'humanely')

WHAT SAY YOU?

I say to all the meat eaters, if you would eat cow, then eat dog, eat horse, cat, etc. Why is one life more valuable then the next?

Every life has a right to live. Because we are more "intelligent" (questionable, in some cases!) doesnt give us the right to play God, and decide what life to take. Its a LIFE.

Stop and really consider that. Calves jammed into boxes, that allow no movement, so that you can have some veal? Or a goose should be force fed, by a tube down his throat, so that you can eat his nice fat liver?

How about chicken, the male chicks are usually tossed into a dumpster or grinder, they are of no use. the females have there beaks sliced off, with no pain killers, crammed into a box, to suffer, until they dont lay eggs anymore... Even if you like meat. even if you think humans are supposed to be meat eaters (which they are not, but i wont even start THAT debate!) Just think about the fact that these animals have feelings, just like you pet dog, or cat. They suffer, and feel pain. How can you want to eat meat after that?

First of all, it is absolutely 100% correct that animals have eaten other animals since the beginning of time, and they always will. However, what most people miss is that humans are what is known as civilized. We mentally understand the difference between right and wrong, and we know that we are to be compassionate (at least we should). This can be tied in with cannibalism. Cannibalism is not allowed because it is morally wrong and disturbing. If you agree that we should eat animals because animals eat other animals, you are also agreeing that we should be cannibals, as humans are animals as well. Humans, unlike wild animals, also have the ability to do research on meat. As someone else has already posted, meat is harmful to the human body in many ways. Wild animals do not have this benefit of researching and learning. Even more so, it is not exactly harmful to them because it has not been pumped with hormones and chemicals if it has been killed by an animal in the wild. I am not at all saying that humans are better than wild animals, as they are clearly not. I am saying that humans have reached the level to where they understand morals. Animals do not understand morals, but rather they go by their instincts and nature. Would you rather be compared to a wild bear or an intelligent human being..."what say you?"

The problem isn't that we are eating animals. The problem is how we are treating the animals that we do eat. Factory farming is a cruel & inhumane process. This is the real issue - - not whether meat is healthy or not. (And in my opinion meat killed in slaughter houses is unhealthy because the animal is flooded with fear & pain).

People need to stop bickering about the whole thing and get on board with each other. Meat eaters should stop supporting factory farming and instead seek out clean, humane sources of animal products. Veggies need to quit being so fanatical (which alot of them are - - not all though) and get off their high horses. Vegitarians actually end up hurting animal rights because they don't support the famrs & products who are trying to make a change by doing things differently. They just boycot everything in sight.

It is possible to kill humanely. The more we support this - - the more mainstream it will become - -and the more people will be happy.

I'm from africa. We're still in the hunter hunted mode and most of us won't eat anything other than meat. We don't eat as much of it as we do the carbohydrates but there's no way you'd make me stop eating the meal of the gods. The thing is how the animal is killed. I have never killed a chicken in my life. I only buy them frozen from the store. I once had my pet goat turned into a pot of soup and i got over it. You should learn to get over it. I wonder though how i would feel if someone else or something else tried to kill and eat me?

There is no proper substitue for meat and if you don't kill them, they will run over the earth and then where will we live? See what happened when no one was eating humans? Now we dominate the earth and cause problems for the other animals. The best way to control populations is with mortality. It sucks but it works. Too bad the animals can't fight tis the way humans can.

Eating meat is taking it's toll on our health and environment as well. You cannot just look at the ethical issues, or you are not doing your research.

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women. You get heart disease from many factors, but eating things with too much cholesterol is a BIG one. Plants contain NO cholesterol. Meat has it in abundance.

Meat also contains hormones which have been linked to girls going through puberty at ages 10 and under. It's just getting worse as time goes by.

Over 55% of meat contains a big dose of Antibiotics. This is a main reason why there are now antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria that are killing people. Overuse of antibiotics leads to mutant strains of bacteria that are resistant.

Not to mention Mad Cow Disease, Aviane Flu, and and food poisoning.

The main reason for Amazon forest depletion is cattle ranching. Why do you think McDonald's publically stopped getting their meat from Brazil in the early 90's.

Also, Animals consume over HALF of all drinkable water in the US.

There is a 7,000 square mile "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico from the animal wastes that leech into the ground water.

Animals also eat more crops than humans do. We are feeding most of our resources to an animal, then wasting the animal for leather and other goods. It would be much more efficient to just eat the crops and cut out the middle man.

As far as killing humanely goes, it's BS! They are supposed to stun the animals before they kill them so that they don;t feel pain. That does NOT always happen. Meat processing plants are always trying to save time and cost buy producing more meat in less time. Many times as a cost-saving method, they forego the stunning. Many pigs are dipped into boiling water to remove their wirey hairs while they are still conscious. Cows are shot in the head, or their throats slit while they are still conscious. There is no such thing as killing anything we eat "humanely".

Yes, PETA sometimes takes things a little far, but sometimes you have to slap people in the face to get their attention. Now days you can't do anything peaceably and expect results. If looking at slaughter videos and images doesn't wake you up to the cruelty, then there is no help for you. They only do things radically to get people's attention. It's the shock value that people remember, not some sit in where people sit and sing Kumbayah.

Being vegetarian for me is something different. Population of homo-sapiens has exploded- unaturally. Population of animals whom we eat has not. So it is neccesary that we try to be vegetarians and be more efficient in using the solar energy available as whole (Know how many plants cow has eaten before you eat it?)
For carnivorous animals it is OK to be a meat eater as their population is very less. So they are just controlling their prey. We can decimate them in a day if all are eating just meat!
Also, I find veg food delicious!

Oops I forgot. Biomagnification too. Harmful chemicals get accumulated as food chain goes up. so non-veggies get more concentration of harmful non-biodegradable chemicals.

Animals were invented?? Now..that's real intelligent. I think my daughter said something similar when she was 3.

Animals hunt for survival and they need meat. Humans don't need meat for survival or to be healthy.

If animals weren't a necessary food source...they wouldn't have been put on this earth in the first place.

I say if you enjoy eating a steak with your salad, then do it.
If you enjoy eating a soy patti with your salad, then do it.

What difference does it make? It's all personal preference and I think we should just keep our noses out of other people's kitchens.
