Hepatitis, HIV, herpes, and syphilis can all be tested through blood. If you are tested for any of these STDs and you have one, it should show up positive on the test.

Most STD's are blood work based but as peaches said it just depends on what type of test the Dr. orders. An STD won't nessisarily show up if they are looking for drugs and visa versa.

They can't test for herpes thru blood work, they would have to do a culture because that virus don't live in your blood stream, it lies in your nerve endings. I agree with who ever said that you need to tell the dr what you think you might have so they can order the right blood tests to be done. Usually a culture is better for some diseases and blood work is better for some too.

Depending on the actual "test" ordered. Go to a Clinic - tell your doctor what you think you may have contracted, and he will order the correct tests. Some can be detected in your urine also. If you think you came in contact - run, don't walk, because its better to be SAFE then SORRY!
