Hi,
Artificial sweeteners all have their drawbacks, even Splenda. I was such an advocate for Spenda until I started reading about how the chlorine molecule in Splenda may be unstable. Only time will tell how Splenda affects are body. I don't touch aspartame or nutrasweet at all. Check in Google to find out more.
My father is diabetic and drinks different diet sodas. But I have gotten him to drink more seltzers. There are different flavored seltzers. That is what my son and I drink and spritz lemon or keylime in the seltzer.
Juices are too concentrated and I tell my patients only to drink juice if the blood sugar is low. You can try and add a small amount of apple juice or any juice to seltzer.

After many years being diabetic, I have learned that fruit juice is way too high in fructose and metabolizes very quickly. Bulk fresh fruit is better for you. There are artificially sweetened fruit flavored drinks out there that taste rather good, like Minute Maid and Hawaiian Punch. (Some are carbonated, of course.) I personally think Splenda has been the best, flavor-wise, on the artificial sweeteners.
On the coffee, have you tried some of the General Foods International coffees which are artificially sweetened? (Nutrasweet, I believe) I have also occasionally seen sugar free coffee syrups out there, if you need an alternative taste, like Irish Creme or Cappuchino. (I don't drink coffee.)

How much sugar are putting into your coffee and how many cups do you have? A teaspoon of sugar has 4 carbs. Sugar is not off limits to diabetics. You just need to limit the amounts you have and incorporate that amount into your meal plan, not just add it in. Most diabetics have seen a dietician that has helped them put together a meal plan with a limit to how many carbs per meal they should have. Using that amount you would subtract the carbs you're putting in your coffee. if you wanted some juice, you would do the same thing. The only problem with this is you're taking away carbs that would add to your actual meals. Sugar and fructose (the sugar from the apple juice) are not going to hang around long and leave you hungry making it harder to stick to your plan. You might try gradually reducing the amount of sugar you're using in your coffee by using a certain percentage of sugar and the rest with Splenda (this is the closest you're going to get to real sugar taste). Keep changing the proportions until you're only using sugar. If you haven't seen a dietician, they can really help you out.

My grandmother is a diabetic and so some of my friends. They wonder constantly what else to drink besides water all the time. I don't know how you feel about energy drinks though, but there are some really good ones. Infact there were researces done on these. The energy drinks are called XS energy drinks. Most of the have no sugar, and if they do it's no more than 8 grams of it ( I think). The energy is powered by lots of vitamins and especially B vitamins! Those who are vegans need B-12 vitamins and in the drinks, they have those too. So now some of my friends drink them and kids can too. The doctors aprove of them as well. If your interested in looking at all the flavors go to www.quixtar.com or email me (Faridah) fsabree@yahoo.com. Infact, if you like what you see I can help you get some at a discount and/or you can get paid to drink them and other coffees that they have on there as well.

Try stevia. It is a plant-based natural sweetener. It has no aftertaste or side effects. I would recommend that you get the liquid extract form versus the powder (the powder tends to clump in cold drinks). However, the powder form is a bit easier to find than the liquid extract. We order ours online.
If you don't want to go that route for some reason, here is a great trick to adapt to artificial sweeteners. Get your favorite sugared drinks and their artificially sweetened counterparts, i.e., Coke and diet Coke. Start by mixing the two drinks half and half (or whatever proportion that you can drink and enjoy). Every week or so, increase the proportion of the artificial over the sugared. Your taste buds will adapt, and before you know it, you will be drinking the artificial without a problem.
You can use this same trick by mixing real sugar and artificial sugar for making other drinks like tea, Kool-Aid, whatever.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I think you need to learn to like splenda and/or equal. It just takes practice and exposure to these drinks. Try adding ice cubes or crushed ice to the drinks. Many soda's have lots of flavors added - like cherry vanilla diet coke -which I really like better than the stuff with sugar. After a while sugar sweetened drinks will taste bad to you. For coffee, try a reduced sugar flavored coffee creamer from the dairy isle. Good luck and bottoms up!
