No. Sex is the most common way, but it's not the ONLY way.

Sex including vaginal, oral and anal sex can all spread STDs.

Some STDs can also be spread by just direct skin to skin contact, like herpes, HPV, and pubic lice (crabs).

Some people are born with STDs too. Mothers can pass down syphilis, herpes, HPV (rare), HIV, gonorrhea, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Some are more easily spread to the child then others of course.

HIV can be spread by sharing dirty needles and blood transfusions.

Herpes simplex virus 1 (cold sores) are mainly passed by just simple kissing someone with cold sores. Cold sores are also spread by drinking after someone with cold sores, sharing chap stick and lip stick and even sharing a cigarette.

Hepatitis B, C, and D can all be spread by contact with infected blood, contaminated razors, needles, and tattoo and body-piercing equipment.

So, even though STD stands for sexually transmitted disease, you can get them a lot of different ways other than "sexual".

Nope, you can get stds, from oral sex, bodily fluids (think AIDS), touching the area where a person could be infected (Herpes), etc. make sure the person you are planning on doing things with is free of any STD'S. That's the only safe way to avoid getting them in the first place.
