I would say, that I'm sorry to hear that you are ill. I love you and I support you and if there is anything that I can do for you, I would be happy to. You are my mom, the only mom I have in this world. Thank-you for trusting me enough to tell me this, I know it must have been hard, but I love you no matter what.

Hep C is not *usually* a sexually transmitted disease! Among married couples who do not use condoms (or share needles!), only 5% of the partners of infected people become infected, and there is some question about whether or not even they caught it during sex, or through other household activities.
You'd be upset that she didn't tell you? But I thought the question said she did!
My children were pretty grown up when I was diagnosed, and they figured out I was sick when my eyes turned yellow! But if they had been younger, I might not have told them right away, because it's an illness which is quite misunderstood, and I would want them to be old enough to understand the facts, not the rumors.
Has your mother been bleeding around the house a great deal? If not, then why would you be at risk? If she didn't know, and she let you use her razor or toothbrush or something, or wasn't really careful cleaning up any blood of hers, you *might* be at risk, but it's not likely.
So get tested, then go on treating your mother the way you always have. She most likely made the best choices she knew how to about when to tell you. Yes, it can be a devastating disease, but for lots of people, it's just a couple of lab reports in their charts, maybe some treatment and they die of something else at 78.
***EDIT***
Please do not listen to tallguy! The ONLY known way to get Hep C is thru blood-to-blood contact, like sharing needles, blood transfusions (before they knew how to test the blood) or caring for someone bloody with cuts on your hands, things like that. And it can be transmitted sexually, if there is blood-to-blood contact. (Semen often has some blood in it, but not enough to notice, and the partner must have a pathway open into their bloodstream, like a cut or abrasion.) And it is NOT a death sentence, although it can kill people. Many of the people who have it don't even know it, because it's just hanging out in their bodies, doing no harm, and many others ARE cured, either with treatment, or by their bodies simply destroying it!
