If what you mean is that you just found out you are infected with HIV, the bright side is that you don't have AIDS!
If indeed, the diagnosis is AIDS, the bright side is that we are 25 years (that's a long time) closer to a cure than when we began. And there are many thousands of the finest researchers in the world looking for it.
It isn't ebola or flesh-eating bacteria!
More and more people have learned about the disease, so you are 25 years of knowledge away from a great deal of the horror, fear, anger and discrimination that existed then. (Sadly, some will still react that way, but far fewer than before.)
You're going to get to know some new and interesting people! (Okay, so many of them will be health care workers, but they'll be new and interesting! ) Some of them will be your fellow patients, and some will become your good friends.
And the thing that people who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness seldom realize at first, which is the brightest thing, is that you are going to have the opportunity to come to grips with one of the hardest things you've ever faced, to find a deep and powerful strength you didn't know you had, and to get through this.
Whether you (and I'm speaking of the "you" in the question, I don't know that it is YOU) make it until the cure, somehow fight off the virus (I think there are some who have, but I'm not positive, and it wasn't many) or eventually die of the complications of AIDS, you still have your entire lifetime ahead of you, so you're right where you started!

I don't have aids or any other major illness, so I in no way claim to be an expert on this subject. But there always some pros and cons to everything. Sometimes it is hard to find them. You can not predict the future - You can not know what it would hold in store for you if you could take different paths. But I believe that in the end, in some way, everything works out for the best.
Finding out that you have aids would be a very scarey thing. I think in some ways it would feel like a lifelong sentence that you didn't deserve. But though it may not be as bright as some others, even this cloud could have its silver lining.
My grandfather has some kind of immune disease. While it isn't contagious like aids, it has really turned his life around. Small things like a cold that I would get over in a few days can knock him off his feet for weeks. He has to constantly try to avoid situations where he could get sick and every time that he does get sick or hurt, it's a very big deal. He goes through a lot of pain and isolation to extend his life. But he also really seems to enjoy the company of his nurses, doctors, and other people that he meets in the waiting rooms. And he has become very close with the people who are there for him. Sometimes he seems so tired and sad when he has to go in for treatments. But once he gets out of the house, the interraction with people he shares similar interests with seems to do him a world of good. He's exhausted when he comes home, but he always has something to smile about! A hug from a pretty nurse, a kind word from a stranger, stories that he has heard about other peoples lives... - I am guessing that the bright side of aids would be about the same. It would eventually lead to you meeting some new and interesting people.

The bright side is that this disease doesn't kill anymore the way it used in the past because of new effective medicaments. These days people with aids have a minimum life time of 10 years or more IF they treat themselves by taking the medicament regularly . I'm sure that 10 years from now there will be a cure for aids.

I have bad news, worse news and some really good news,1st the bad the doctors can't cure you,the worse news is the meds aren't going to do anything but extend your misery cuz theres a 1.3 trillion dollar revenue on pharmaceutical so they st oped curing cuz the money is in treating you for the rest of your life(sad but true if you dont believe me investigate it for your self and you ll see the light)cuz it makes more money than curing you and charging you $5000 for the cure you do the math, the good news and trust me there trying there hardest to keep us silent, the investing millions actually, that no diseases, bacteria or virus can live in an alkalized state so no matter what you have you CAN be cured, put the key words alkalize foods and diets, fulvic acid, ionic coral calcium and ph balance in your yahoo search engine and educate your self dont let the doctor do it for you(he genuinely wants to help but he's been being lied to for years by the people he trust the pharmaceutical company's)and enjoy a second chance at life...all i ask is that you spread the word, awareness is the key to stoping the FDA,the government and pharmaceutical company's dead in there tracks...

Because life was never meant to be forever...it's a tough sentence but you'd better look on the bright side...why would you rather look on the down side?

You are not dead yet. You know what you have and there are many more treatments than there were a few years ago. You live in the USA where treatments are available Jesus still loves you and if you obey Him by committing yourself to Him and submitting to baptism He will forgive any sins you have done and welcome you into His kingdom. Write to Mack Lyons or listen to "In Search of the Lords Way" to find the right way to get right with God. Then remember He says not to worry about tomorrow...Do the best you can with the rest of your life and be glad for it.

well, i believe there is more to life what the comment foe over sees. from my personal experience with the sick... they seem to have a better wiser understanding to life. its funny to say people with aid's are dying when we are all dying. we die. that is what we do. weather you have to have to live with pain before you die or not we are all going to die. i really believe that people with aids, cancer or any fatal deases at that are in a higher position to find pure peace. its something god gave them that no one would understand why but themselves. believe me. everything happens for a reason. i have meet many people who are hiv positive or have full blown aids. they just seem to have the most peaceful state of mind. i really look up to them and respect them. they all just happened to be such beatiful people. to undure such pain and yet seem so happy and peaceful with in. i would rather be like that than be an ugly lost soul like the rest of us.
