You may not like me telling you the cold hard facts; but deal with it. You have already been given a strict diet, since you know you are type II. This can't be cheated on. So you see that nice greasy hamburger and coke. These things merely satisfy a weakness brought on by the disease. Pick friends that understand and who don't tempt you.

The cravings are about the same intensity as a person who tries to quit smoking. But you must buck the trend and make yourself stronger. Your quality of life is more important than your desires that cause nervousness. Rather than a strong cup of coffee, drink fruit juices; they will not stimulate your nerve endings that tell your body to get the coffee anyway. My brother hares fruit juice; but he drinks 30% fruit juice and 70% water. Oh man, let the water work for you; then everything will be on your side.

If these things seem blunt; they are meant to be. But a long and happy life is the end result.

I'm assuming you meant manage. You're going to have cravings. It's hard, but you have to find things to distract you. Go for a walk, drink some ice water, chew some strong minty sugar free gum, brush your teeth so anything you do try will taste bad, find hobbies outside of your house. Boredom will cause you to go looking for something to stuff in your mouth. Get rid of all the foods you shouldn't be eating, you're just setting yourself up if you tell yourself "just one", it won't be. Stock the house with only foods that are good for you. All of these things will also help in getting your weight down and getting better blood sugar control which will help prevent and in many cases, reverse some nerve damage. You have to just make a decision that you want your coming years to be spent enjoying life, not stuck in a bed going through dialysis, missing a leg or two, a large vertical scar down your chest, and in pain 24/7...among other things. It's a choice.

1. Make sure that you are not in my tax jurisdiction.
2.Don't treat the diabetes.
The first is I don't want people around that I pay for their complications of diabetes that they suffer due to their irresponsibility. The second is to ensure the propogation of the side effects of the disease (cravings for food) and for the neuropathy that results from high blood sugar levels.
