The HIV virus cannot live outside of the body because it needs a Host (something to thrive off of to survive) cell.

Why would you ask, if you have stuck with an old syringe HIV is not the only virus out there that can make you sick or worse can kill you if you or someone you know has been stuck by an old syringe go to the DOCTOR.
