Start slowly taking meat out of your diet. Start with pork and cow, then work your way through chicken, turkey and fish. While you are taking these out of your diet, try adding tofu or the meatless varieties made by Morningstar farms. Also, look into a vegetarian cookbook to get some ideas, or just look into changing the things you already make into vegetarian meals.

Also, try the many varieties of soymilk. The chocolate is fabulous and the regular tastes good in your cereal.

Also, take a multivitamin everyday that contains the vitamin B12 because you can only get it naturally from animals.

Remember, meat has 14 times the pesticide and milk has 5 times the pesticide of vegetables and fruits, so you are doing your body a favor.

Hi!
i am a vegetarian by choice and so far haven't eaten meat/fish etc. And no, not even accidentally. So i can tell you that
it isnt hard at all. And if you live in US or Europe its even easier.

But, you have to make sure
that you get all the neccessary things that your
body needs. Like protien etc

i dont take supplements and am as healthy and active as
ever. So the whole thing about supplements is stupid...
as long as you eat. Same with non-veg, just eating the
same type of things ain't going to give your body everything it needs.

Vegetable and fruits dont cause disease as far as i know
But meat, well you must have heard about 'Mad cow disease',
'Bird flu' etc all of which arent just a common cold, there serious.

If you need to know anything else, well you can email me,
or there is a choice of doing it the Bill Gates way, using the internet

Goodluck!

Vegetarian is fine, vegan is really harsh on the body. I was vegetarian for 9 years and was given the outlook of vegan not consuming eggs, milk, cheese, etc. which does not kill a innocent animal. Taking milk from a cow to make dairy is helping the cow so the udders don't get engorged. Taking the eggs reduces foxes and raccoons stealing the eggs and killing half or all of the chickens in the coupe. Going vegetarian-eliminating meat- cleanses the body of impurities and enforces eating healthier foods like yogurt, peanut butter, eggs, etc.

Do not think about it as "giving up meat"!! This just makes you want meat more!
Just enjoy vegetables. There's so many things out there that you've never tried. A wondrous variety of mushrooms. And believe it or not, tofu is pretty good. Tofu green curry with kaffir lime leaves puts those puny genetically modified battery hen chickens to shame.
Most asian recipes are great to get into it. Remember to eat nuts and leafy greens to keep your proteins up. Don't overdo the pasta, unless you're carb loading.
Try new veges like fresh roast beetroot, kau kau, fennel, celeriac, sapote, chayote, japanese mugwort, kimchi, jicama. You'll probably end up being pretty 'out there' and adventurous. People will think you're weird. Then they'll get over it and want to try your new recipes.
And remember, cake contains no meat either : )

Okay
1 - great for considering a vegetarian life, but consider eating only organic meat. the commercial meat industry is the wrong in this nation.
2 - go to http://www.goveg.com and you'll get some ideas, also http://www.mypyramid.gov has some great vegetarian tips.
3 - vegetarians do not eat meat. vegans do not eat meat or dairy products or eggs. I suggest if you become a vegan to eat organic dairy/eggs. Cows are going to give milk and chickens are going to lay eggs whether we don't eat them or we do. Whereas, they won't go around turning into steaks if we leave them alone.
Hey - being a vegetarian is healthy too. I lost 8 lbs simply by quitting meat - in 4 weeks!

Well speaking as a vegitarian of 2 weeks I've found a few things help. Are you still going to eat milk, eggs, and cheese or are you going completley vegan?

I actually haven't found it hard at all. I had bowtie pasta with marinara sauce yesterday and Asian stirfry with lo mein and veggies tonight.

Basically variety is the key. If you buy nothing but vegtables you're going to get sick of them really quick. Pick up lots of good breads and pastas. And you can still eat out at places like Chipotle and just get the veggie options.

Best of luck!

There are many kinds of vegetarians. One, I'm for animal rights and against animal testing. Second, for a Health report in college, I chose it as a subject matter and did research. MTV back then had a show about it, that I've used as an audio-visual. From what I've learned and read, I told my folks no more meat, though my mom gives me fewer portions, and my brother questions me and laughs, when I tell him I'm serious, and joined other ranks of celebrities who say no meat in their diet...

Start yourself on a daily vitiman that has a good source of Iron! That is important that SLOWLY stop eating red meat and pork and more fish. Make sure that at the same time you are adding more nuts and beans into your diet. After the fish you can start eating tofu as a meat substitue. I like to take a firm tofu and fry it.

Study nutrition and figure out how to get all the nutrients you need without meat in your diet. If you're in the USA, you can go to your local library and ask them for help in finding books about how to eat healthy vegetarian.
