Fried Onions, Sauerkraut, Sausages, Boiled Spare Ribs, City Chicken ( which is a skewered pork, breaded and fried, very nice), Schnitzel.
The condiments can be sour cream, dill butter, a traditional Ukranian garnish is crispy bacon or if you have a Kosher Deli around, is Schmaltz, a type of cooked chicken skin like pork rinds, parsley and caraway and poppy seeds.

When I serve perogies, I also have fried ham or sausage and lots of fried onions. You should also have sour cream to dip the perogies into.

I would say either main course or side dish. As a side, pierogies go well with sausage or hot dogs. Make sure to have sour cream to dip them in!!!

I so love the site ..being of Estonian extraction The mere mention of perogies sour cream and dill fairly took me undone. What happened to the pig trotter/veal braun ? The gherkins??? the rollmops??? the list goes on... put in those Europeans who remember the recipes your mothers foisted on you , that you hated!!! but now cannot remember!! I'm coming back to check!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They could be either or. If they are a main dish you can serve them with sauerkraut, kielbasa, and/or sour cream.

I've always eaten them as a main course, but yeah they'd be great with sausage and kraut. Sour cream. Gotta have it.

Either or; Plan on making a lot though; I know I can eat almost a pound by myself; love them with crumpled bacon, and hot bacon fat; or sauteed onions;
