Heavens no!! Smoking will definitely not make you feel better it will actually make you feel worse. I can say that from experience as I was a smoker for about 14 years. It was extremely hard to quit and the only reason I managed to quit this last time is because I have a 3 year old at home. I would highly recommend finding something you enjoy doing like a hobby of some sort and put yourself into that. If you don't think you have any hobbies you'd be surprised how much better you'll feel by volunteering to help other people. Like going to a nursing home and just visiting with the people there. Not all of them have a family that visits and they get very lonely and really enjoy just talking with someone. Are you part of a church community? Get involved with a church and you'll be amazed how much better that will make you feel too. I'm also curious as to what you mean by "always mess things up"? This first thing you need to do is ask forgiveness of anyone you may have hurt and then most importantly forgive yourself! That is the hardest but most crucial part. Find someone you can trust and talk to them about how you're feeling. If you don't have anyone like that, talk to a priest or a pastor. They are obligated to privacy and can not disclose what you speak to them about. If you go to confession with a Catholic Priest they are bound by the sacraments to never disclose to anyone what you discuss/confess to them. Please, please try one or all of these things before smoking!!! It is DEFINITELY not as elegant or calming as others make it to be and will only make you addicted to a very expensive habit that will kill you and make you and everything around you smell like stale smoke all of the time. Good luck and I am praying for you. God will bless you in more ways than you can imagine if you just let him!

Smoking is not cool. Neither is drinking for that matter. Don't mess things up more by messing up your finances. Cigarettes are expensive. You will save a lot of money in the end.

You will only help your attitude by thinking positively. I know because I had that same problem before. Also, be more self-confident. You will be surprised at how much better you will feel. Even some meditation would be good. Get into a nice quiet place, turn on some peaceful music, wipe your mind clear of everything, and just relax.

Absoultely not... Cigarettes do not help people feel better. Believe me, you will not be in a happy mood when the doctor tells you that you have emphysema and lung cancer...

Cigarettes are nasty. You will stink all the time, you will breathing in cancer-causing elements, poisoning the air around you as well, not to mention that a pack is in the neighborhood of $3.00 a day. Why would you consider starting a habit that is addictive and will cost you over $1000 a year, just to wind up killing you and probably your children, as well??

Plus, as the wife of a crabby smoker, let me tell you that they do nothing to improve your mood! LOL... If you are struggling with self image, try finding a hobby that makes you feel good. Golf lessons, art classes, whatever your passion is, build on that. If that still doesn't help, try talking with a therapist. But, please, do not smoke. It is such a bad, bad habit!!

Smoking effects your nervous system, it causes a pleasure response, the first couple of times you smoke, but you quickly become tolerant, and your body begins to crave the nicotine in it, making u have to smoke more and more to get the same pleasure response. It will never make you like your self, the only thing that can do that is getting the help you need, now before, you get any worse. Not to mention the cost of cigarettes is climbing in some places its nearly 6 bucks a pack, that's money you could use to get help if u didn't have insurance.

A support group is so much cheaper and more effective than cigarettes! Try going to Yahoo groups and typing in "support group." There are lots of choices - I'm sure you can find one that works for you.
Once you get addicted to smoking, you would just have a physical addiction on top of your adjustment problems, which might just be the growing pains of everyday life. Good luck and keep in touch.

smoking will not make you feel better in the long run. It will just cause more health problems and self esteem issues. If you want to feel better about yourself try improving your life in some way...pursue a hobby or something u were always interested in but never really tried out such as a sport or something like that.

Go for it. Camel non filter kings...good tasting, and more cancer for the money.

Seriously....go for it. I heard crack does wonders for attitudes as well. Not familiar enough to suggest any brands, but I am sure that a standard house brand would do until you get into it more.

I really don't think that smoking would help you like yourself better. In fact, in the long run it could make you feel worse. Smoking is not good for your skin, your teeth, and your health. Find something more positive to make you feel better about yourself. Good luck!

It sounds like to me that when you do smoke, that B.S. that you asked about does not come to "your" mind at all; like whenever you smoke you also start to break things down and get into them, you relax and maybe even do and think the things that you really want to do...
