First, snoring can be an indicator of a more serious medical problem. Although snoring may be harmless for most people, it can be a symptom of a life threatening sleep disorder called sleep apnea, especially if it is accompanied by severe daytime sleepiness. Sleep apnea is characterized by pauses in breathing that prevent air from flowing into or out of a sleeping person's airways. People with sleep apnea awaken frequently during the night gasping for breath. The breathing pauses reduce blood oxygen levels, can strain the heart and cardiovascular system, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Snoring on a frequent or regular basis has been directly associated with hypertension. Obesity and a large neck can contribute to sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can be treated; men and women who snore loudly, especially if pauses in the snoring are noted, should consult a physician."

However, for simple snoring, one quick and easy fix is to change sleeping position. Most snoring occurs when lying on the back, so try sleeping on your side.

You should have a sleep study done, you may have sleep apnea, which means you stop breathing for a few seconds then a big snore wakes you to take a deep breathe. This can easily be treated with what is called a CPAP Mask that you wear at night. It maintains a constant flow of oxygen. Also I have heard of new laser technique that works great, but an ear nose and throat Dr. does the procedure GOOD LUCK>

What position do you sleep in? Your left side is the healthiest- it allows for better circulation, digestion, and breathing. If that is not working for you, and you are overweight, try exercising and getting into a little better shape. Sometimes even a reduction of five pounds will be all it takes to breathe easier. If neither of these "do-it-yourself" cures make a difference, it may be sign of a deeper problem. In that event, you should talk with your doctor about going to a sleep clinic, where you can be tested for sleep apnea or other disorders. Good luck!

If you smoke or are overweight, these can make snoring much worse. It can be a result of enlarged tonsils if you had repeated infections as a child, or it could be a sign of an underlying health problem. If you find yourself tired during the day, despite a reasonably early night, the problem could be sleep apnoea. If any of these apply, a GP or the practice nurse would be the best place to start.

If your snoring is that serious you can have health risks. Get a sleep study done. They are fun and you can find out if the cause of your snoring is sleep apnea. That is easily treated.

If you rule out serious sleep apnea, etc., ask your dentist about a Snore Guard appliance. I've done a few and the patients report that they are like magic.

either try sewing a golf ball in the back of your PJ top so you cannot sleep on your back or lose weight if applicable.

Being overweight significantly increases snoring levels, my husband snored terribly and lost weight, now he rarely snores.

Sleep sideways. So that ur air passage is not blocked like when you sleep on your back. You can tie something at ur back which will prevent you to sleep on your back as the thing makes u uncomfortable (like a metal water-bottle).
