Chlamydia:
Chlamydia is caused by the bacteria chlamydia trachomatis.
Much chlamydial infection goes undiagnosed, because the infection is often without symptoms.
However, it can cause vaginal bleeding and discharge, abdominal pain, fever and inflammation of the cervix in women.
And in men, it can cause a watery or milky discharge from the penis, swollen or tender testicles and a burning feeling while urinating.
The long term complications can be severe, especially for women where it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy and infertility.
Between 20% and 50% of children born to women with chlamydia will be infected.
Chlamydia is the leading cause of neonatal conjunctivitis, an eye infection in babies that can cause blindness.
However, it is easy to treat with antibiotics.(BBC News-Health)
The mainstay of therapy for chlamydia includes appropriate antibiotic treatment -- these include: tetracyclines, azithromycin or erythromycin. All sexual contacts should be screened for chlamydia.
Sexual partners must be treated to prevent passing the infection back and forth. There is no significant immunity following the infection and a person may become repeatedly infected.
A follow-up evaluation may be done in 4 weeks to determine if the infection has been cured.

Tetracycline is a good all around antibiotic, and does not usually cause a female to get a yeast infection like a lot of antubiotics will. If diagnosed with chlamydia, then whomever did the diagnosis should have prescribed antibiotics for condition. If have not been properly diagnosed, then seek medical attention quickly to see if that is actually what the problem is.
