girl who stays in her house all the time, except for going to the store. She pulls her hair out one strand at a time, untill she went bald. Is there a name for that?

This is a condition called trichotrillomania (For real). A friend of mine has it. It is a psycho-somatic disorder like biting fingernails but a little more disturbing. The people seem to feel determined to pull the hair and can give no logical reason.

In the religion called Jainism the priests or monks are supposed to pull out their hair.

Wilhem... has it correct. I've heard of that disease before since there is a student at my school who suffers from this. It's really too bad, she's a beautiful girl from a stable family. She's popular, a cheerleader, good student, but she has this disease. It must be traumatic to suffer from an illness like that.

It's called like tricchotillomania. I knew someone who had it and he was from an abusive family and that's the only thing he could control. He was also really angry so he would express his anger by pulling his hair out.

It's a form of obsessive compulsive disorder and there is medicine for it. I don't remember the exact name. You can Google hair pulling disorder and you will get it.

I knew a person also to do that and they had several problems one was OCD and the other was ADD. That is scary.

They suffer from some kind of mental disorder. I think its a sickness that needs to be treated, probably psychiatric help.
