Before deciding whether mathematics was invented or discovered, we must
clarify terminology. Discovered: The thing always existed. Someone found it.
Invented: The thing did not previously exist. Someone created it.
Then we must clarify what mathematics is. Mathematics is a tool, a model.
It is something that we can use to describe or model parts of reality, or
any other system based on quantifiable things. Mathematics can be used to
model finance, logic, even color. Mathematics itself did not exist before
the first mathematicians. What was discovered was how to mold the model to
fit reality. What was invented was the model itself. Mathematics was
invented. How to use mathematics was discovered.

Actually it was the Mesopotamians (Assyrians, Sumerians, Babylonians) who discovered math, not the Arabs or Persians. They had already solved triangles BEFORE Pythagoras "invented" his theorem. Mesopotamians also invented the number zero and divided the circle in 360 degrees, then 60 minutes, and finally into 60 seconds. They divided the day in 24 hours, and constructed the week in 7 days. Look us up, we invented many more important innovations (wheel, irrigation system, lens, glass, etc...)!

I think that math is not as old as man.
In fact at first (during first man) there was just one deference between man and other animals and it was logic.man is a logical animal.
math is a result of logic because logic was not able to solve all
problems of man.
in fact math doesn't have a very big problem of logic and it is exact estimation ability. by using logic you can estimate but not exactly.for a first man exact estimation was not necessary but for later man it became a need so they make math.

Greek thinkers and probably Arabs for Algebra. But when will you discover that this is the Ethnice Cuisine section not the Mathematics section? :) I was expecting a nice and easy ethnic cuisine recipe!

I think the greek thinkers Pythagoras or some other dude thought a little about it , but the Persians or somewhere out in the middle east they actually started formal studies onthe subject.

We have always had math but didn't know what it was called. We use math everyday but don't see it that way. We see it as measuring or exchanging money.. stuff like that
