While a CBC (complete blood count) may show an increase in your WBC count, such as monocytes and lymphocytes, it will however not rule out specific infections. Doctors order CBC's to get an idea of how healthy you are, to make sure you don't have elevated WBC, which could be an indicator of infection or cancer, and to assess properly your WBC count, your RBC count, and platelet amounts. If there is abnormal results with your CBC, then they will order more tests depending on the results of your CBC and what it shows. If you are concerned about an STD you need to let your doctor know so he/she can test you properly. Never leave your doctor in the dark about anything to do with your health. They need all of the information to make an accurate diagnosis.
