In my opinion, its odor is foul, like a fish tank. But I'd like to give it a try for its health benefits. Any ideas?

Buy the fresh stuff. Does fresh wakame even have a smell? I've never noticed.

Correct it does not have any smell, if you are into eating any kind a seaweed product, try Hikiji, it is short and dark, you soak it to remove the salt.

It looks like hair, and can be used in salads, cook in stir frys, it high in iron, potassium, iodine and fiber. You can use it a bit at a time, and is available at most Oriental or Japanese stores, you store it in a covered dry place, and will never go bad.
