Absolutely. We don't live on french fries and salad...and they tell everyone NOT to eat the french fries for all the fat...but that's all they offer us?

You guys bashing vegetarians need to sit back and chill. Not all vegetarians are motivated by animal rights or are "tree hugging hippies" as you call us.

I am allergic to the hormones the cattle ranchers put in meat. I'm not going to pay triple the price for meat that does NOT have it in it...you know...the way it should be...without the growth hormones that ranchers use to help the ranchers turn a quick buck at the market.

Think about what's being put in your meat...and maybe you'll reconsider eating it...I mean...hormones people...you wonder why infertility cases are shooting off the charts compared to 20 years ago?

Back to the original question though...yes, make some vegetarian choices...there's burritos at McDonald's...a burger joint...so it CAN be done if enough people voice their wishes.

Ironically, I think that most people associate vegetarian/vegan to be the polar opposite to the term "fast food".... even though it's not.

I don't know if I want to purchase my veggies from the likes of Micky D's or the King of Burgers.... but I DID love the little fast food place that my husband and I went to in Altadena, CA (called "Healthy Express") which served ONLY healthy vegetarian/vegan "fast food". The burgers were soy burgers, the fries were air baked and delicious... and they served carob shakes. MMMMMMmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, I think what another user stated is, unfortunately, true... that there simply aren't enough healthful eaters for the big fast food chains to feel like vegetarian options are worthwhile financially unless they're guaranteed to have decent sales. Like in Los Angeles... you'll find soy burgers and other goodies at all the fast food chains. But in the Midwest? Forget about it.

It would be wonderful if they did! Sometimes on the road it's hard to find anyplace to eat. Fortunately Burger King does have a decent BK Veggie Burger. At Arby's I get the Baked Potato with Broccoli. Tim Horton's has a cream of broccoli soup that I've been assured has no meat broth. McDonald's is pretty hopeless, but where there's a McDonald's there is usually a Burger King, and BK gets my business and the business of anyone I'm traveling with because they have the BK Veggie.

I hate "Vegetarian" sandwiches that are just salad on a bun - you're hungry again in two minutes.

Yes, they should offer more vegetarian choices.

Because I know so many friends who are vegetarians and avoid going to the fast food chains as they have no much variety to choose from.

It is a very nice question you have brought up.

In a perfect world- yes.
However, the demographic for fast food is not exactly the "vegetarian" crowd. The fast food industry is back to catering to those who need an occasional quick meal or those who simply do not care about what they eat.
I don't think it would go over well, and the quality would just not be very good.

Depending on type of chain... some do offer many vegetarian choices.
Such as ... Noodles & Company....Pizza Hut...
However, places like McDonald's, Burger King, & Wendy's are known for selling burgers...& other meat sandwiches.
There customer base is not the vegetarian but...the meat lover.
It would probably not be cost efficient enough for them to offer tofu burgers.

I totally agree. These days all these 'fast food' chains are trying to serve 'healthy' food. What does that mean?

They will increase their client base by expanding their menu to include good vegetarian options...not just salad and french fries.

No, not really. Vegetarianism and fast food are diametrically opposite points of view. Fast food is supposed to be speedy, tasty and above all, bad for you, the kind of thing you can eat with satisfaction after drinking yourself to the brink of unconsciousness. At that point, no-one - but NO-ONE - wants radish patties or beanburgers, they want something that's been carved off a cow and dunked in axle grease. Mankind is a strange and perverse beast, but there are some things that are just fundamental, and that's one of them.

Now if people want to set up fast vegetarian food chains, that's a different thing, and I wish them all the very best for the three and a half months they'll be in business before they're eaten alive by a rampaging mob of drunken carnivores searching for a couple of pounds of recognisable protein.

I'm not a vegetarian myself and I don't intend to be but I think this would be a great idea. Diversity is always good and there should be more choices for everyone.

No - the point of each chain is to serve a certain kind of food. There are salads available at most of them. To get vegetarian fast food, someone should open a chain specifically for that purpose.
