This isn't about pleasing your doctor. It's about your health. Your doctor has probably seen blood work much worse than yours.
If there are specific diet/exercise issues you need help with, ask your doctor for advice and support.
Good luck!

I am a type 2 diabetic too. If this blood work is to show what your normal counts have been over the past three months or so (I think it's called A1C), then what positive things you do over the next two weeks will help but it won't erase what things have been like in the past 3 mo. or so. Don't let the Dr. becoming upset be the #1 reason you want to make your blood work better. Let your health, YOUR LIFE, be the #1 reason. I usually eat my supper meal around 5:30 pm.but something that seems to work for me is cutting my normal meal in half.Eating one half around 4:30 or 5:00 and the other half around 6:30 Naturally, you have to watch what you eat. Low in sugar, low in carbohydrates, etc. Don't skip taking your medication and make your daily exercise enough that you work up a sweat. Sweat from the exercise and not just because it's hot. Hope this helps.

Your blood sugar will reflect good control at the time you go in if you follow your rules and eat the right diet and get some exercise, but your HbA1C is going to rat you out for the last two to three month's control.

Apparently you have not been sticking to then diet and exercise plan and maybe have not taken you medicines or tested your blood often enough. Instead of trying to fake out the doctor and get yelled at, why not be honest and admit you have had trouble staying on the program and ask for help right off?

You might benefit from working with a diabetes educator to help you because you need to be in good control to avoid complications.

There are some great ideas and a program to follow for free on www.glucerna.com . You can find tons of helpful information, calculators and recipes there as well.

Two weeks isn't enough time to get your hemoglobin numbers down. However, IMHO, the best thing (at least for the future) you can do is read this:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:
http://www.diabetesimprovement.com/

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:

My Dad was diagnosed with type 2 about 4 years ago. It has been a struggle for him since he is a big meat and potato eater.
As far as diet, well, low carb, low fat. Eat whole grains and load up on fruits and veggies. Stay away from the red meats, and aim for fish, chicken, turkey, lean cuts of meat. Also stay away from sweets as they can make your blood sugar spike(so can anything with a lot of carbs) Try sugar free pudding, ice cream, and even jello with fat free cool whip. My dad enjoyed these treats. Remember, you need carbs and protein, just make sure they are the right kind and good for you. plus good fats, not the kind that will clog your arteries.
As for excersize, well, walking is what my Dad does. He does take herbs, not sure all of them, but he does take cinnamon capsules. These are proven to help blood sugar levels. you can find them at Walgreens. Walmart.
He has done really well, and when he went back for his checkup two months ago, the doc said his type 2 was in great control.
am sure you will do fine!!! Good Luck and try this site for extra help. www.diabetes.org

I know how hard it is to eat right. You almost have to cook all your meals from scratch. Imagine that if you wanted to go somewhere, you would have to build a car each time? Is this stupid, or what? Dr. Sanjay Gupta said once on CNN News last winter that in 20 years, over 80% of Americans over the age of 25 would be diabetic! That's scary! And totally unnecessary!

Try a vegan diet. Recent research shows the vegan diet will reverse type II diabetes. See http://www.vegetarianorganiclife.com/ and http://www.newstarget.com/019785.html I also believe the vegan diet will substantially help prevent the secondary complications of type-1 diabetes.

Use this as a starting point and make notes of what you do, eat, exercise, and anything else that will effect your health. Don't worry about this but use it to take control of your diabetes. Things will improve and when you know what is effecting your control you can take it on as 1 issue at a time. I have learned this from personal experience. Take care of your health.

Oh for crying out loud. Drs. are people. Educated to be sure. If people didn't get sick and have problems, we wouldn't need them. If he gets upset with you, find another dr. You should try and stay healthy for yourself, not because of a dr.
