It's great! I've had it twice and the 2nd one (most recent) was even better than the first b/c they've improved it. You have to cook it properly and baste it like it suggests. The gravy is good but not that flavourful. If you eat milk products you can get turkey gravy mixes which have no meat products in them and you just add water. Club House is the brand here in Canada. In the aisle where all the sauces and marinades are etc. I was unsure of it too at first, but mainly embarrassed to buy it LOL my mother just happened to pick one up for me as a surprise.

I definitely think it's worth the price and bother. I spent waaaay too many Thanksgivings and holidays feeling left out by just eating whatever and keeping to myself. Pick up some cranberry sauce and stove top dressing, some sqaush, make some mashed potatoes etc. Go all out! It's fun and you'll feel happier for being a part of the celebration again. The leftovers are great too. You can make hot tofurkey sandwiches LOL

I've had fake tuna before, but I forget what brand it was. I do NOT recommend it. But then again, I don't think I'd ever had real tuna before becoming a vegetarian, so maybe it just wasn't my thing. It smelt like cat food to me=P

PS - they don't have the "drumsticks" in the tofurkey kit anymore (I thought those were dumb too) instead they now have yummy cranberry/apple/potato dumplings. The "wishstix" are still pretty stupid in my opinion, but taste good.

I tried it a few years ago and I found the Tofurky itself to be pretty awful. It had no real flavor and was kind of mushy. The Wild Rice and Mushroom stuffing, on the other hand was delicious, as was the gravy. The tempeh drumsticks were pretty good, too. (I don't think they come in the holiday dinner kit anymore, though.) It's definitely not worth it. (By the way, you can buy both the gravy and the stuffing separately. I usually make my own stuffing, but sometimes I buy the gravy, which is delicious.)

I've never tried Tuno, but I've heard it's good, but only if you make sure you rinse it off before eating it.

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? If so, I would go with their vegan holiday meal rather than the Tofurky one. I had it last Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was very good.

Tuno is loved by those missing tuna. I had a family over this summer that has been vegan for two years. Everyone loved tuno, even the kids. I could have served it to them every day. When you open the package (I can only find frozen now, canned is no longer offered) it smells just like catfood. Don't panic, just add mayonaise (and celery/ground celery seed) and make yourself a sandwich. It's awsome.
Tofurkey would depend on your personal tastes. I don't care for the kit. The "drumsticks" seem dumb to me and I can make my own gravy. Usually you can buy a tofurkey roast by itself for about $8. Try it out that way. It has wild rice stuffing. For holidays, I have sometimes just used turkey flavored deli slices with gravy. It's less holiday and more school lunch like.

We had one several years ago and no one was enthusiastic about it. The sunflower seed lasagna from Recipes for a Small Planet makes a much better vegetarian feast if you are willing to do the work. Even the omnivores and carnivores among us enjoy it.
