I decided for a wide variety of reasons that I didn't want to sustain my own life by consuming death. It doesn't upset me when other people eat meat in my presence because I respect their choice as I expect my own to be respected.

When I was a kid (about 11) I decided that I just could not live with the fact that I was eating dead animals anymore. I made the choice to become a vegetarian without the support of anyone including my family, and in an area where tofu wasn't even available. It upset me too much knowing what I was eating, especially biting into something like a chicken leg and seeing the veins etc. I guess some ppl think about these things and others choose to ignore it. I often wish I could be that way (ignorance is bliss) but I can't. It would make life much easier that's for sure!

I can usually eat with ppl who are eating meat products although I can't really watch them. The things that bother me the most are the big roasts (ham, chicken, turkey etc) or BBQs b/c they smell so much and it makes me literally sick to my stomach. I still try to deal with it though b/c I don't want to alienate myself from my family esp. around the holidays.

The three main reasons I'm a vegetarian are ethics, health, and the environment, and in that order of importance.

Just imagine what it would feel like to have your throat cut. Animals feel pain just like we do.

I know in the past we have not always had the option to be vegetarians, depending on where you lived and how the harvest went, etc.

But in today's age we live in the age of luxury where we have the rare opportunity to not have to kill to survive. Not only do we have this opportunity we can now do so and be healthier than if we chose to eat meat.

You might have to take some time to wean yourself off of meat as long term eating habits may cause a rapid transition to be somewhat stressful. I suggest eating meat one meal a day, then every other day, then once a week, only on special occassions, etc. After a while you will feel like your body is running cleaner and the thought of eating meat will strangely be some what disgusting. Slowly you will begin to realized exactly what eating meat is.

I sincerely wish you the best on your new found query.

There are many different reasons.
1. Some just don't have the stomach for it
2.(me) Some are environmentalist and understand that beef is one of the of the foods we consume that produce the most pollution. (75% in food pollution charts) Eating the meat advertises the ideas for more beef production and more pollution. Plus its making beef corporations more money.
3. Who knows? Some believe that animals deserve to live as well and humans have no reason to eat them. The fact is though the animal kingdom is full of carnivores. If they believe that a human is an animal then we should be able to eat meat. Many other animals do. Also try telling a lion or a croc not to eat meat, it might be difficult.

I don't eat meat because I don't want to directly or indirectly kill an animal. There is not a need in our society to eat animal flesh to be healthy, and it is deplorable how animals are treated and killed in the meat factories. There are smaller farmers and ranchers that raise their animals with care, feed them well, allow them to graze and don't pen them up or cut their beaks or don't need antibiotics to battle the diseases inherent in overcrowding, etc...I have less of an issue with this, but I still won't eat this kind of meat.

I does not really bother me if people eat meat in front of me, my girlfriend is not vegetarian. I do have trouble with some of the smells, and will sometimes leave the kitchen, but that is the extent of it. My brothers like to order rare steak and literaly rub it in my face, but I let them have their fun.

I am a vegetarian because I want animals to live and I don't need to eat them for food.

I don't mind if people eat meat because I don't have the right to force my values on other people.

However, I do find many times people are upset with me for being vegetarian and would like to force their values on me - that I should eat meat like they do.

I don't eat meat because it tastes and smells disgusting to me. But that's a personal choice, and I don't try to force it on anyone else. I wish meat-eaters would be as tolerant of my choice as I am of theirs. Why do people get so upset over somebody else's decision not to eat meat?

anyway, dont eat meat due to by religion belief and but dont mind going to MacDonald's as I can still drink coke and eat fries or special order to have the burger served without the meat.

I am does not imply that pple around me must be, so to me, it's ok if we have different order. friends eat meat while i order vegetarian food while dinning together. sometimes, they go to vegetarian restaurants with me.

Animals have a right to live to...it's not fair that they get killed and ate...what if bears and dogs started eating humans? it would be a big deal huh? but people have no morals...i just watched a chicken get killed for the people to eat and it brought tears to my eyes...the chicken was screaming and everything..... eating meat is unhealthy too...people say its healthy, but morally its unhealthy and wrong
