Blood work showed Trigylcerides at 206. LDL at 120 (I think). Liver Enzymes elevated (AST at 53 and ALT at 80). BP (hypertensive) running 166-170/95-100 (with meds). Glucose initial screen (random non fasting) was 118. I have had several "hypoglycemic spells" where sugar went up after meal and then quickly went down leaving me feeling very sick. Have been tired, mental confusion, vision bluriness, constant headaches. Going in tomorrow for a two hour fasting glucose. Dr. will do more blood work on liver to test functioning. I am 25 yo male, 5 ft 10, 260 lbs, 4 immediate relatives with diabets, father died of heart attack at 48. Any possible answers to what this all could be? Are all the symptoms related or possibly different problems?

Keep diet to 1500 calories a day - only drink water and diet rite. Tend to gain weight no matter what I eat and retain gallons of water. As much as 40 lbs of water weight sometimes.

More symptoms for those that want to know: Diziness, faintness, weakness, no sexual desire, problems with speech (almost stuttering), extreme fatigue, uncontrollable weight gain, (but sometimes no appetite), nosebleeds (not so much now, but several in August just sitting around the house and it would start bleeding), - hospitalized in August and they thought I was having a stroke, then ruled it out through CAT scan and MRI. EKG seems normal. Resting pulse is about 108.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

There are many conditions that can cause these results. I suggest you get a fasting insulin, a TSH, a free t3, and a free t4. Many people before becoming diabetic have what is called insulin resistance. This is where you produce too much insulin, eventually this leads to diabetes if left untreated.

elevated cholesterol levels are also indicative of thyroid problems. That's why I suggeseted a TSH, free t3, and free t4.

I have a low thyroid, along with insulin resistance. I have had elevated liver enzymes in the past due to mild fatty liver. Mild fatty liver was the result of the weight gain from the thyroid problem. My cholesterol and liver enzymes are now normal since being treated.

May be chronic hypoglycemia - see if you can get your doctor to change the glucose tolerance test to a 6-hour (call today). A 2 hour will rule in or out diabetes, but may not be long enough to catch the below normal lows. My low hit between the 3rd and 4th hour.

Check out symptoms of hypoglycemia at the symptoms link at www.hufa.org.

Some of your symptoms sound too familiar. I was hypoglycemic until I switched to diabetic - about 4-5 years ago. I can still get the mental confusion.

Oh, if you do check out that website, check out the yeast link, too. I did not know that 1) yeast can infect more than the groin area and 2) if it overgrows inside, it can aggravate diabetes (and possibly hypoglycemia, too).

Depends. I am taking EMT Classes to become a Paramedic. I can tell you 2 of the 3 classic signs are polyuria (peeing to much or to often or a lot), & being overly thirsty. I could say a lot of the signs and symptoms I have seen in a lot of diabetic attacks are similar to those you have. However nothing is for certain. You should be checked up on by your Dr. Like you are being, and listen to him, and take any advice he gives you. He'll be able to determine the cause, and give you many more details than I ever could.

Thanks, and Have a nice night. Goodluck! I hope all goes well for you! :)

well you definitely have hypertension which could lead to diabetes. your glucose levels are a little high but it was random so you probably did eat. for the best results you do need a fasting. a big symptoms of diabetes is having a blackish ring around your neck. also you are over weight and thats has a lot to do with it.
well good luck, take care and start eating more healthy!

According to the official standards of the American Diabetes Association, diabetes is diagnosed when two separate fasting blood glucose tests are 126 or higher. So 118 doesn't quite cut it for diabetes, but you could be pre-diabetic. Good luck.

Sounds more like hypoglycemia than hyperglycemia(diabetes). Your non fasting sugar levels are normal. You need to work on losing weight. That will help with the Triglycerides and blood pressure. May also help with the hypoglycemia. Diet and exercise are in order. Tired, mental confusion, vision blurriness are signs of low blood sugar. Those are symptoms I have if my blood sugar crashes because of insulin reaction (I am an insulin dependent diabetic). Does not sound like diabetes.

I am not a doctor, but it sounds like you may have heart problems or may have severe diabetes, all this can lead to a heart attack or worse you are so young, but it does run in your family & you can also try exercising and weight lost. But hang in there and see what your doctor says. Take care & good luck with your blood test : )
