I love Pad Thai noodles with chicken, but I started wondering if it is fattening? It seems like a pretty light dish, but I could be completely wrong.

I was surprised at how calorie-dense the little Thai instant meals in the grocery store are. But I don't know about how nutritional it is if you make it at home or eat in a restaurant. You can probably make it at home with a lot less fat and salt than the prepackaged kind.

I don't think all of the Thai Food is fattening. They uses a lot of peanut sauce and coconut puree, so that dish is fattening.

not trying to be funny, but i doubt it is very fattening. i have not seen many people from Thailand that were overweight/ obese (i figure that's a decent indication-- look what happened here when we began to deep fry everything) i would watch out for grocery store "ethnic" cuisine, though... a lot of time those are waaaaaay more loaded up on calories and whatnot. to prepare food to sit on a shelf probably entails different preparation than more authentic Thai food.

Don't let anyone kidd you, all food is fattening if you eat too much of it too often.

That's what food does, provide nourishment and provide fat as storage until the next meal.

Store away too much fat and your body will show it.

most thai dishes have noodles that are not fried or saturated in oil like chinese but stay away from the coconut milk etc in the sauces

No, not at all. It's a fairly light cuisine and the fats/oils they use are "good fats". Like vegetable oils, coconut, cashews, etc.
