I work at a business that keeps open containers of on road, off road diesel, and regular gas, they do not have the containers closed. You can smell fumes and I wonder what kind of damage I could be doing to my body by inhaling these fumes 9 hours a day 5 days a week. I have had several bouts of bronchitus, and pneumonia since working here and wonder if this could be the culprit. Also I have to now have a CT scan done because I have enlarged lymph nodes in my lung area.

Contact O.S.S.H.A. (a federal agency), check/confirm that the solvents are harmful, and have them take air samples to determine that they are illegal concentrations. . They are. Report the workplace to them. Also contact state authorities, and apprise them of the situation.
They are breaking numerous laws. Gas fumes in sufficient amounts can cause kidney damage among other problems. they are also carcinogenic in sufficient concentrations in the air.

The enlarged lymph nodes means that your body is still fighting an infection--probably in your lungs from what you're mentioning. Your health is at risk. Go consult a doctor and then go to your lawyer.

Sounds like they are in violation of several Health and Safety regulations. Call your local Health Department and get them to come over for an inspection (Don't do this at work, if they overhear you, then may "find" a reason to fire you.)

Also, if you can find out the names of all these chemicals you can you the link to find out more information. Look for some thing called the "MSDS" (Material safety data sheets), these should be readily accessible on-site. (If not -- that's another violation.)

Also, you need to contact your local OSHA office, they can bust a few heads, if need be.

Good luck.
