Neither eat fish, but both eat dairy (dont think they like eggs though). One likes soya mince but the other doesnt. I want to make something that they will like and that I can also serve to my other guests without them complaining about 'rabbit food'. Any suggestions, other than ordering a take-away!

Making a dinner that includes both vegetarian and meat would be kind to all your guest. Doesn't seem fair that those do eat meat should have to suffer through a meal without. I suggest starting with a grand Caesar Salad with fresh croutons you have sauteed in garlic oil to start. A pasta (like Rigatoni or Penne0 topped with meaty mushrooms that you have sauteed in butter and dressed with Marsala wine and topped with plenty of Parmesan cheese. Add some fresh Italian bread, a good white and red wine on the table with some Pelagrino or other Mineral water and end with a nice Tiramasu. Everything except the pasta can be made ahead so you can spend time with your guest. For your non vegetarian guest you could add a roast chicken platter - I can only hope your vegetarian guest will share the table with those who indulge - such restrictions to a host or hostess is just simply wrong. Do you best, serve plenty and food that is cooked well and thoughtfully. Everyone will be pleased. Good luck.

If you're looking for something easy, why not try a simple pasta dish? Red or white sauce, with or without vegetables, etc., there are plenty of options and who doesn't like pasta? Add some garlic bread or breadsticks and a salad and you've got a whole meal.

Note: I saw someone earlier mention Caesar salad, be very careful with that one many/most Caesar dressings have anchovies in them.

Stuffed peppers is a great idea as is the vegetable lasagne. You can always serve spaghetti with meat balls on the side with garlic bread and a salad. Eggplant parmesan is good and very filling. Stuffed shells would also be good - you can stuff the shells with cheese or mushrooms and you can have a separate pan with meat stuffing.

Italian food is always a good choice as it is filling, delicious and has tons of meat-free possibilities.

I'm not surprised they don't eat fish because no vegetarian does!

Some ideas: Pasta Primavera, Garden casserole, Stir-fry over brown rice, Vegetable Pilaf. There are so many things! I have news for you though..most vegetarians do not live on rabbit food. You don't really think we just eat lettuce and carrots do you??

You can serve mushroom halfs in olive oil, lime juice, vinegar and topped with parmesan cheese as an entree, then fettuccini alfredo and eggplant parmesan.
If they aren't full for dessert you can serve some kind of sorbet.

Good luck.

Try cooking Indian food. Lots of Indians are vegetarians, so there are tons of wonderful Indian vegetarian dishes. You could also do one or two vegetarian dishes and one or two with meat. Here are a few sites that might give you some ideas:

vegetarian pizza, wine (since they're not real vegetarians) or vegetarian lasagna and wine.

(wine has animal fats in it by the way just like dairy so thus the vegetarianism theory flies out the window)

why not serve them lard from a pig instead while you're at it.

take out is questionable also... alot of animal fats in take out food you actually think any vegetarian resturant or any resturant is purely vegetarian?
