The fact is that vegans get all their protein first hand from plant based foods like Soya Protein (present in Tofu, Soya Milk etc.) Nuts, Pulses etc. Meat eaters are getting their protein second hand because the animal has to process the plant material first. In fact, in terms of protein per square metre, Soya is the highest grossing crop whereas beef has the least protein per square meter where it is grazed.

I have never had any form of problem relating to deficiancy of any kind. The vegan diet is one of the best ways to reverse climate change, hunger and poverty, read "Eating the World?" a leaflet published by the vegan society for more details.

Nuts, pulses etc - also, a vegan girl I went to school with used to have this powdered stuff called Spirolina (made from seaweed I think) which was a source of protein - it was pretty horrid looking though!

People really overestimate the amount of protein that one needs. The average American gets about 6-8 times the protein that they actually need.

Protein is in all kinds of things, but is in highest amounts (in plant-based sources) in nuts, beans, and grains.

Grains, nuts, beans are great sources. Almost everything has protein so it's next to impossible not to get enough.

It's a misconception that protein is only in animal products.

There are some veggies with natural protein, but some people I know eat peanuts, which is high in protein. They also use vitamins to get other nutrients they wouldn't otherwise get.
