Not enormously overweight but enuf to have me on a strict diet (16lbs lost in the last 2 months!) and only a bit left to lose and I'll no longer be overweight. Wish me luck!

I'm a bit overweight, and have been vegetarian for 10 years.
Too many late night ice-cream and chocolate snacks, not enough exercise.
Stevie Wonder's a vegetarian, and he's looking quite full-figured these days.

I am yet to meet a vegan who is overweight and if I did I would assume that there was most likely a medical reason for it.

However, non-vegan vegetarians (of which I am one) as just as likely to become overweight as everyone else. If you think about it, meat doesnt make you fat! Foods which are highest in calories and fats are usually suitable for vegetarians (dairy, condiments, sweets, bread etc etc).

Im a veggie but not overweight. However, I remember reading the actress who played the Dingle woman in Emmerdale, sorry cant think of her name, she also presented Youve been Framed for a short time. She was a veggie and very large. So, yes.

yes, a few. veggies tend to eat a lot of dairy products which are very fatty. also ,veggies are just as prone to comfort eating as anyone else. i also know a few overweight vegans, though vegans usually have lower body mass. it's often due to vast quantities of beer, or too many carbohydrates/sugar.

Yes- Plenty. It doesn't depend on being veg or non-veg, the quantity of food your body can take without fattening matters, everybody has their own metabolism rate; so some people i know can eat 3 times more than me , without any exercise, and still remain thin..

No, I don't. Those vegetarians that I know tend to be a little underweight & rather pale as if they're not getting enough iron in their diet.

yeah...now when i go vegan i lose weight...but i have a hard time staying away from non-vegan foods like ice cream and slimfast bars (i eat a whole box at a time...the cookie dough ones are really good)

i eat too much
and i eat too much of the wrong thing

and i don't eat a lot of veggies or fruit unless i am trying to go raw vegan.....

Yes, me. I'm a vegetarian and although I'm not obese I am carrying a few extra pounds (mostly in the boobs!). Probably because there's no meat in jaffa cakes.
