There really are no signs or symptoms of HPV or cervical cancer.

Physical signs of HPV are warts, but not everyone gets those and it can take months and sometimes years for the warts to show up. Other than that there really are no symptoms of HPV.

As for cervical cancer, there also really are no signs. Most women find out they have it by having an abnormal pap smear come back. The early stages of cervical cancer may be completely asymptomatic. Vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding or (rarely) a vaginal mass may indicate the presence of malignancy. In advanced disease, metastases may be present in the abdomen, lungs or elsewhere.

To my knowledge, there are no actual symptoms of cervical cancer other than abnormal pap smears. And the HPV virus is usually the virus that causes the cellular changes on the cervix that lead to cervical cancer. Externally, HPV can cause genital warts. The signs of those would be actual bumpy growths on the external genitalia. They can be managed with antiviral medications and "frozen off", but there is no actual cure to completely get rid of the virus once you have it.

Unfortunately most of the time there are no symptoms. That is why a yearly pap smear is SO important. For some people they get genital warts, that would be a symptom of the HPV virus.

the hpv virus has different types and one or two of them have been linked to cervical cancer...I don't think those ones have symptoms....another type of HPV causes little warts to grow on the genitals and these need to be burned off by a doc
