to melatons in recipe websites at all. Nor can I find melatons at grocery stores. I know they were vegetables, but not much else. My question: What the heck were melatons?

McCoy, it could very well be Cajun, since we were in Louisiana. Don't go to any trouble, since I can't find any melatons anyway, but thanks.

Island, it may be that since we were surrounded by Cajun French speakers, that melaton is a different kind of word, but I am certain that is how it would be spelled, barring any accent marks over the vowels.

I think what your grandpa was talking about was melatonin casserole, not melaton.
