Vegetarians do not eat meat of any type including fish and poultry. A semi-vegetarian eats vegetarian most of the time but might eat fish (sometimes called pescetarian).

Vegans do not eat anything that came from an animal including meat, fish, eggs, milk products, honey, and typically do not use animal products such as leather or wool.

The difference is between a vegetarian and a vegan. Vegans don't eat any kind of meat, including fish. That's it!

I don't really know the reason for that but I eat fish, and am vegetarian. Fish is white meat, and you don't see blood when you cook it.

Chicken and meat, have so much blood in them, and its horrible seeing chickens and cows being slaughtered.

Vegetarians do not eat fish. If they do, they are not vegetarians. A person who confumes fish but no other meat is called a pescetarian. A pescetarian is NOT any kind of vegetarian.

PS: There is no such thing as a semi vegetarian. Either you are one or you are not.

They are would be vegetarians, a vegetarian does not eat meat, or fish. It a weird twisting of the truth, maybe its to salvage their conscience, I don't know.

Here are some definitions I found on this website, although I'm sure there are more fanciful ones as well:
http://www.co.mohave.az.us/WIC/Vegetarian.htm
Semi-vegetarian
Dairy products, eggs, chicken, fish, grains, fruits, vegetables,
legumes
No red meat or pork
Pesco-vegetarian
Dairy products, eggs, fish, grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes
No red meat, pork or poultry
Lacto-ovo vegetarian
Dairy products, eggs, grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes,
seeds
No meat, fish or fowl
Ovo-vegetarian
Eggs, grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds
No meat, fish, fowl or dairy products
Vegan
Grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds
No animal foods - meat, fish, fowl, eggs or dairy products

I've been to a Jewish vegetarian restaurant, and they serve fish. My understanding, from the staff, is that is historical, dating back thousands of years, so I understand and respect their point of view. If I am in error, don't be shy to correct me.

Vegetarians DON'T eat fish. There are some people who call themselves vegetarians that eat fish, but they are, by definition, not vegetarians. (As the definition of vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat meat.)

People who eat fish but not red meat, poultry, or pork are simply that, people who eat fish but no other meat.

"Allowed"? What do you mean by that? There is no church telling a vegetarian "thou shalt not eat such-and-such"! The word "vegetarian" is just a description, not a sacred pledge, and you make your own choices about what you care to eat and what you don't want to eat. There are almost as many reasons for being vegetarian as there are vegetarians, but it always boils down to one person's preferences. We are not talking about some cult with hard-and-fast rules, we are talking about choices made by individuals.

Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian.
Does not eat any kind of flesh. No fish, no crabs, no chicken no caviar etc. Not even cod liver oil! Generally prefers to keep these creatures alive than kill them. But a lacto ovo vegetarian can eat other animal products that do not cause aimals to die in the process of creating them like milk, cheese and eggs.

Pesce Vegetarian.
Just like lacto-ovo but allow the eating of fish on the basis that fish do not feel pain like other animals because their nerve endings are not very 'fine tuned'. (contributed by nora wafaai)

Lacto Vegetarian.
Same as lacto-ovo above but does not eat eggs.

Ovo Vegetarian.
Eats eggs but no dairy products and milk.

Vegan.
No eggs, no dairy products. Generally believe that the suffering that animals in modern and not so modern animal farms cause suffering and that we should not enjoy that in any way.

Fruitarian-Vagan.
I only know of one religion ( Jainism ) that does not only forbid the eating of animals but also of vegetables that have to be killed in order to eat them. So fruits are ok but mushrooms are not.
