Pills and pump! I just got a new pump--the Animas IR1250 and I love it!!! It holds up to 500 foods so you can tell the pump what foods you are having in that meal (up to 9 choices each meal) and how many servings for each one, and it will figure out how much insulin you need for that food. It also tells you how much insulin you have 'on board' which means how much is left from the last time you had insulin so you don't overdo it when you give yourself more. And it figures out how much insulin you need for how many carbs you have and for your high blood sugars. It is totally awesome and I am soooooooooooooo happy I got it! I totally recommend the pump to anyone who takes insulin!
Before I got on the pump over 4 years ago, I was on 4-6 shots a day, at least. I just couldn't get any good control from it, my HA1c's were about 9-11%, and I felt horrible. Since I have been on the pump, my diabetes is under control. I can live my life according to what I want to do, not according to the stupid shots! And no more needle pricks several times a day--only one every 3 days now!

I've had type 2 diabetes since 2002. I take metformin and amaryl and watch my diet , get moderate exercise and monitor my blood regularly.
They say diabetes is going to be the scourge of the baby boomers and their children due to such high obesity levels.
Oh and I've lost nearly 70 lbs in the last four years, 20 to go, but I 've done it slowly and kept it off.
