They are in my window, in the sun. Had to pick because of frost. But they are staying green? What is wrong?

Try putting them in a paper bag and setting them in a warm (not hot) place. That should speed up the ripening process.

I've heard that putting an apple in the bag with the tomatoes will help ripen them, but I've never tried it to be able say conclusively that it works or not.

if they aren't at least a little red on the vine they won't get red in the window. You have to wait until they start to ripen otherwise they never will. Why don't you find a green tomato recipe. That's your best bet. Where do you live that they have frost already?!

Put them in a paper bag and they should be red within a few days. Unlike someone suggested, "fried green tomatoes" are made with unripened tomatoes. Yes, there are rare varieties of tomatoes that are green in colour, but almost all green tomatoes you buy at the grocer's are just regular unripened red tomatoes.

You should try making fried green tomatoes however, very tasty! I like them with kethcup. Here's the best recipe:

It is the end of their growing season and that always happens. Try picking them and placing in a brown bag to see if they turn. If not make fried green tomatoes or if you have a lot of them you can pickle them as well.

Sometimes they won't turn if you pick them too green. If it has been days with no color change then google some recipes for fried green tomatoes.

Wrap them in newspaper and put them in a paper bag. They will ripen in a week or so.
