Just like you would to an adult. I admire you for trying to teach your kid about STD's. Too many parents don't have time to sit down and talk to their kids.

my daughter is 11 and we have been talking about sex and things like that for a couple years now, i havent actually shown her pictures yet but that will happen very soon. She knows that if she ever needs to talk or has questions that she can come to me and I will always be here for her. If I were you I would just be as open as possible and not be embarrased, the child will sense that u are not comfortable and you will not get near as far as u would if u can be open.

With honesty. If you're open, they'll be much more likely to be comfortable talking to you. No matter how you feel about the rest of their politics, check out the planned parenthood website. They have lots of information about discussing STDs with kids of all ages.
Good luck!

Hey, do you have a few minutes? I wanna show you some pictures...
Proceed to the most horrible graphic depictions of the nastiest STD's out there. Make sure you point out the ones that have no cure, and the ones that kill you, paralyze you, sterilize you, and cause you to go insane. That's to get their attention and scare the crap out of them. Discussions on how to avoid them should follow naturally. :-)

Why don't you start by asking quesions to scope out what she knows? You might be surprised. Start the conversation from there.
