What sort of signals should I look for to tell wether or not a guy likes me. He seems to give me a much bigger smile than he does my best friend (and we are all friends). He also seems to talk to me when we are in a group. However he is pretty shy and doesn't usually initiate converstion. He's a really sweet guy and really focused on his studies, he doesn't seem to have many friends that are girls and only a couple of close mates. I guess I'm just a bit confused by his mixed signals, sometimes it seems like maybe he does like me but then he doesn't initiate conversations. If he liked me wouldn't he want to talk to me???
By the way I'm 21 and he is 20. - incase this is relavent

Some guys are incredibly shy and this tends to give people the impression that they are rude or distant and they era extremely bad at starting conversations. I think the best way to find out the true feelings this guy may have for you is to find something he does like to do (watch movies, walks,scrabble? who knows), then make a plan to get him to join you. Organise to study with him if you are doing the same subject. With shy guys its best to take it slowly, never pressurise them because this can just make them withdraw back into their shells. Getting mixed signals can be so frustrating, but don't let your frustration get to you. If this guy likes you he will come out of his shell, you just have to show him you are understanding and patient. Find out more about him from him. it's all down to eye-contact, especially for someone shy like he seems to be. make note of how much he looks at you, maybe have a friend see where he looks when your leaving the room

He's shy. Try talking to him more, its not his fault for being so shy. Maybe if you can talk to him, he'll realize that there is no need to be shy when talking to you....
