I am sick and tired of religious people pushing their religions on me. Grow up. We atheists should start pushing back if it doesn't stop. Thoughts?

(No conversion attempts please, they just wont work)

Actually, that would be amusing - why don't atheists go door to door through Christian neighborhoods handing out religious pamphlets?

I'd suggest wearing running shoes, though - it would be interesting to see how long it took for the neighbors to amass into an angry mob. =)

START pushing back?!
I think that has BEEN started.
Over 40 years ago, prayer was taken out of our schools. It's now illegal to display the ten commandments, which are the basis for our legal system. People want to word 'God' taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance and off of our money.
Separation of Church and State has become militant anti-Christianity, and we have many an atheist to thank for it.

I never push my faith on people, but I do answer when asked about it. Yet my son can't carry a Bible to school or pray over his lunch?!

Don't tell me there's no pushing going on...

christians are so obsessed with saving everyone that sometimes (ok most times) they don't stop to think how you would feel that they are telling you that your wrong they're right. nobody likes to be told they are wrong. my family kept telling me blah balh god this and blah blah jesus that. then i told them that i turned atheist, and haven't had much a problem since, but i know for a fact that they want me to convert back, some of my friends do too. but they realize that if i were to go back(which will most likely never will happen)it would olny be my own choice, nothing they say would convince me because everything about religion that they say sounds ignorant to me, and they would never dream of changing to my beliefs either. we live in a world that doesn't want to let go of tradition, even though i have and i feel like i finally been set free. which i have, freedom from others telling me how to live, how to act, and basicly just run my life for me.

ADDED: good point lunarsight, there WOULD be a mob chasing around the poor atheist, they would probably try to burn him at the stake for "working for the devil' too.

Religion is your essential nature. If you are an atheiest, then you are follower of atheism. God for you is not someone who lives up in the sky. Your thoughts, capabilities, work and human feelings work as God for you. Keep it up. Do what you like, do good to others, no need to be religious from conventional point of view. No need of conversions, just enjoy your existence and give joy to others.

No one should push their religion on anyone, but I will say that Christians have the right to say how they feel and what they believe in. Atheist are quick to say who and what they don't believe in so why can't we? I don't push my religion on anyone, but I do try and encourage people by saying a kind word and telling them what GOD has done for me. People get on my nerves when all they do is complain about how their life is going wrong but they aren't willing to try something different to see if it will help them. We all have troubles and go through a storm but it is my FAITH that brings me out and I think that is why some people never make it through their storm because they lack that.

Dear asker, be watchful, I am trying to convert you now and I believe it works.
Kings in the past order people not to teach religions with the threat of death sentence! But many believers still kept on teaching to successfully convince them and even those kings' descendants.
Other opposers of religions have become thankful believers afterwards.
Other haters of religions have become devoted religious supporters.
Other doubters of religions blamed their friends for not telling them earlier.
Other heedless walkers on earth feel so lonely and helpless, they look for fortune tellers, astrologers, psychiatrists, ... to help them out, and they just continue to sorrowfully waste money for no good results.
Now, if you are fully content, please tell me where have you got that great wisdom?

If you don't want to hear about other faiths, maybe you should troll a different area than Religion and Spirituality?

Please bear in mind also that atheism is a classic "religion", every tenant of atheism is taken on faith; you believe what you believe because you want to believe it and you refuse to believe anything else.

religion pushing?! u should reconsider ur view. Jesus himself was the one that started this when he has sent his disciples to preach from house to house to the people. anyone has the right to tell others what he belives if that person agrees in listening. i do not agree with religion being pushed by force but with religion being pushed by preaching i totally agree. Jesus did it, and his disciples did it as well. Actualy this is one of Jesus' commands to all his disciples (Mat 28:19,20). if ur an atheist all u need to say is a firm and convincing "i am not interested". if they refuse to leave then they realy r pushing.
