Gelatin (US spelling) or gelatine (British spelling) (used to make Jell-o and other desserts) is a protein made from the boiled bones, skins and tendons of animals. An alternative substance is called Agar-Agar, which is derived from seaweed. Another is made from the root of the Kuzu. Agar-Agar is sold in noodle-like strands, in powdered form, or in long blocks, and is usually white-ish in color.

According to dermatologists, there is no evidence that gelatin will do anything for hair growth. Syncronized swimmers use Gelatin on their hair to protect against chlorine damage, but there's no evidence that it will stimulate growth.

My mother always told me that if I wanted to build strong nails that the best thing would be to dissolve gelatin in a liquid and drink it. I believe it says the same thing on the gelatin box. Certainly wouldn't hurt to try it. (My nails always were in pretty good shape so I don't know if it helped or not.)

Nope. Gelatin is often used in jello and other deserts, and I know it doesn't make hair thicker. If you actually put it in your hair it will make your hair solid and take FOREVER to get out. Gelatin and hair is a bad combo. I don't know what will make your hair thicker as it grows, but there are a ton of shampoos that will make it bigger
