This is really a nice thought. You look to be a nice person having sympathy for the victims of various miseries in the world. That’s good. I think that joining some social service group should help you ease up. Though please remember that you are not the contributor anyway in the miseries of these victims.
See, there are so many persons around and just by looking at the answers to this post also you can come to know that there are so many differences in the opinions about various subjects. That’s the way of life. While you are feeling guilty even without doing any bad to anyone there are persons who keep on doing these bad things to others without even realizing the impact of the same on others.
From the spiritual view I relate these happenings in the world to Lord Krishna declaring in Bhagwad Gita that this whole world in temporary and full of miseries (http://www.bhagavadgitaasitis.com/8/15/en). As we all are spirit souls we have to suffer or enjoy the results of our all actions that we have performed in our previous lives (in different bodies). If you like please try to explore these links as they provide the absolute truth in pretty simple and logical manner.
Also you may chant following mantra to release your guilt:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
And believe me it works!!!

Never do anything just because you feel guilty. It will not erase your guilt. Only one thing can erase the guilt that all of us have, and it has already been done for us by God(1). Sure - before He did it, there was a certain cycle of sin and death. But He has broken that bondage by personally taking on a human life (a sinless human life, furthermore) so that there could be death without sin - and then rising from the dead. For who could keep God in the grave(2)?
This is what happened when Jesus came to earth and died and rose again - He was and is much more than a mere historic figure. Because of what He did, you have the opportunity to leave your old life behind and live a new life(3) motivated neither by fear of punishment(4) nor by desire for a reward(5) - but rather only by love for God. And the best way to show love for God is to love your neighbor...(6)
Surely it is God's will for you to take action in that direction. For the moment, if you have an opportunity where you are, you could get involved in such work locally. And in the meantime, ask Him to show you all the possible ways you could take such action anywhere, all the ones which He would deem suitable, and in prayer 'try out' each one in your mind until you get the one which 'fits' - that you know is really right and that you feel peace about, even if it is perhaps a difficult manner of service.
He might have you remain where you are, serving people there, or He might have you go elsewhere. The most important thing is to be available and willing...(7)

By nature it sounds as though you are somewhat an empath. You must remember that you can not help all people all the time. The gift you have must be focused in one direction or you will end up burned out. Sometimes the greatest needs are better left to others who are better equipped to help. Try and figure out where you can make the most powerful impact, not the broadest impact and work in that direction. Be sure and maintain singleness of mind in your chosen work. When you have time and want to do more, the best you can do for all the others is pray earnestly and fervently for those causes. They need that more than anything else. Teach yourself to pray more and more powerfully each day. It doesn't matter what your beliefs are, pray, and God is faithful to walk you through the rest.

Hmmmm...
So what concerns you most, solving all the problems of the world or assuaging your own sense of guilt? And if it is to diminish your sense of guilt that you help others, won't you then be guilty of the sin of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons?
Not that I have anything against that, of course. I'm a great believer in the means being justified by the end. But then, I don't have to pretend to be anything other than the heathen I am.
I reckon it would be good to help others because you want them to be happier, not because you want yourself to be happier. The result will be the same. But you will gain the double whammy by virtue of having done the right thing for the right reason instead of the right thing for the wrong reason.
Right?

You can always help in any way you can but will not stop the poverty and war in Irag. My only opinion is to go by what your heart wants. You have to make sure you stay in the path of the Lord at all times so what ever happens you will not feel so guilty about the things that happens around you because all these wars and poverty will happen before the coming of the Lord....in the bible.....May God bring you peace and bless you......

The first thing that you should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.
If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.
How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?
It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.
One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.
Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.
If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.
If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.
How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.
Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.
If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.
How likely is that????
Think about it.
The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

Don't feel guilty. God doesn't expect us to feed and help the whole world. But, If he puts someone in our path, he expects us to do something.
If you want to do something extra, there are a lot of organizations that need help. There is one that feeds the poor, provides disaster relief and medical assistance and drills water wells for villages that don't have clean water to drink, all over the world. It's called the 700 club. I'm sure they would appreciate any help that you can offer. And you will be helping people all over the world. God will bless you.

Sure You can join any humanitarian group, but stay where you are. You can work from your own place. Make a balance in life, live your normal life and do whatever good you can do.
As far as spiritual advice is concerned, first search yourself. What is the basis of your feelings and what is there relation with your life. Search yourself and find answers. Further communication is welcome. I am here, anytime :)

You have a guilt complex. Perhaps your parents were always telling you similar things, and you have learned to feel guilty for things that you are not responsible for.
The evil in this world is caused by Satan. Even God doesn't hold us guilty, Jesus said "I have come not to condemn the world but to save it!"
God is in control of the whole creation, it is he who decides to allow Satan to continue to deceive the world. So why do you want to challenge his decision and try and play god yourself? If you are a born-again Christian, God has promised that you will experience trials in your life, so don't make things worse.
Of course, your current trial is this: Can you come to terms with your guilt, acknowledge that Jesus has fully paid the price for your sins and that there's nothing you can do, now or in the future, to pay him back? Maybe you must struggle with this issue of salvation by faith and not by works for some time!

You are feeling disconnected with the SOURCE.
No matter what you decide to do or not to do in the outside world, nothing will quench your guilt.
The answer lies within. It might take a life time to find this answer, or just a blink of an eye.
