If you use something like DVDx the you can rip the dvd and compress it down further. Rather than 4gb per movie you could get it down to 600mb.

I can't give you a number of movies because I'm guessing you have an OS taking up some space on your drive too!

If you are using a program such as DVD shrink, you can fit about 8 movies onto a 40 gig hard drive as each movie will take about 4.5 space, but if your laptop has just 40 gig hard drive, some space will have allready be used for windows system files and other programs you have installed.

Depends if you compress them, a dvd holds 7 gig.

Compressed into divx or xvid, you can get 50.
Just ripped directly, you'd get about 5 to 10, depending on the film.

well it depends on the quality of the video if it is HQ it is good quality but it takes more space SP is standard it is good quality but not as good as HQ which is better picture quality EP is not good quality or anything below that like SLP and SEP

every DVD is a little more then 4 GB
