Hiya

Little children do things like this because they are beginning to get to know their bodies and they are beginning to recognize that certain things get them shock value and attention.

I would recommend giving your son absolutely no reaction when he does this. Unless you emphasise how other more grown up kids aren't doing it and then ignore him. - but do this in a quite calm tone (even if you feel like throttling him cause you're dying of embarrasment)

Its the same way when kids learn how to swear cause they heard it on tv or heard dad say it when he had a bad day!, don't make a big deal and they stop. Make it a big deal and they do it till they finish puberty :)
He will stop.

I know from personal experience. I as a 5 year old used to grab mens testicles anyone from my brother to the vicar! i didnt really get what i was doing i just remember everyones reaction was very funny. My parents wanted to die of embarrasment and put me up for adoption!

You'll be pleased to know this was a passing phase.

I told my nephew that if he took his cloths off in public any more his belly button would come undone and his guts would fall on his feet , that was 2 years ago
he should get out therapy any time now .
Its just a phase they all do things like this to get a reaction just keep telling that its not nice and that you don't like him doing that . he will get sick of getting the same response and try a new and annoying new trick like picking his nose and eating it or some other gross thing you wont be ready for.
OH PS THE BELLY BUTTON THING >>>>JUST A JOKE DONT TRY THAT

I have to say this is quite a serious matter. Do you think your son is spoilt? I would think so. Ever tried, perhaps, taking away a few of his privileges? (not rights, privileges) e.g. No watching TV until behaviour gets good or shut him in a room to reflect on his actions, these can be effective. Or maybe the serious talk about why he does it.

That is a great question to ask a therapist or doctor.

There might be some underlying medical problem with him.

Have you asked him WHY he does this?
