nope, no chocolate for animals. Animals and humans digest most food differently. They don't absorb some minerals, or nutrients the same way or not at all. Some times they need more of some nutrients than we do. They can not digest many medications that we can also. Allot of food and meds we take on a daily basis can kill an animal even in very small doses...Always check with a vet before giving any medication. Especially if you read it on yahoo...these people are NUTZ!

NEVER GIVE:
Chocolate, Onions, Grapes, Rasins, Mushrooms, to animals.

Chocolate is in fact toxic to dogs. The reason being is that chocolate contains Theobromine (a compound similar to caffeine), which causes irregular heartbeat and cardiac arrest if enough is ingested. No dog should ever be given chocolate. White chocolate contains the least Theombromine and Dark chocolate/Baker's chocolate contains an astounding amount.
If a dog ingests chocolate, immediate induction of vomiting is the best. To do this, put a little vanilla ice cream in a bowl for your dog (for taste!) and mix with hydrogen peroxide (amount depends on the weight of the dog) and a teaspoon of salt. This will induce vomiting. If a dog has consumed the chocolate while you were not home and it has been in his/her system for 1 hour or more, an immediate vet visit is in order. Your veterinarian will give your dog activated charcoal which will absorb the toxicity

Chocolate is bad for dogs cats and humans, but because we have larger organs our body views this"poision" as a stimulant which we enjoy.

It is not good to feed any of your pet with chocolate, because it is affecting their heart.
But there is an alternative, a Dog chocolate, and that one is OK for dogs.

Never give chocolate to dog's. It's a stimulate to them and you just can't know how much will make them very sick or kill them. Human's and dog's have very different digestive systems.

Hi,

It is said that chocolate can poison them. You can buy dog treats from a pet shop. I would not give anything to my Akita if I thought it could harm him.

Up to you but I suggest best not too.

No, no, no. It speeds up the heart and may cause cardiac arrest. People think that just because their pet did not drop dead, it is okay. Just lucky. Don't take a chance on such a known poison.
