It seems unusual for a two year old to be biting his nails.

Try to find out why he is biting his nails.......Does it happen when he is moody or unhappy? Does it happen when he is wet or needing to be changed, or does it happen when he doesn't get what he wants?

'Nail play' is a good idea.... show me your lovely nails, look at that nail, its really untidy, see how shiney your nails are, lets look for the little moon etc. etc etc.

A 2 year old shouldn't have nails long enough to bite.

Put gloves on his hands and that should stop the nail biting.

You can get stop and grow from a chemist, although you get used to the taste after a while. I stopped biting mine as part of a deal and I won a mars bar. It was the thought of all those horrid germs that was my main motivation.

Really does it matter? i bit my nails untill the age of 15, one day he'll just grow out of it, or you could wait till hes old enough and explain all the nasty things that live under your nails lol.

1. try a nail biting solution
2. mix lemon juice with sprinkle of pepper.
3 vinegar with chilli

non of these should be harmful and might stop him.

Yes, you can get stuff from the chemists that tastes really bitter when painted on nails. Although, as a child, i quite liked the taste... :)
