It's true that Qantas has zero fatalies, but El Al Airlines and Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel absolutely are the safest in the world today. And guess what? They most certainly do have racial profiling. It works.

I know the rest the world doesn't want to hear this as it is more evidence as to why the United States is the greatest nation on earth. But every FAA cerftified 121 airline is the US has an extremely low accident rate. The accident in Kentucy recently was the first fatal crash of an American carrier since 9/11. So pretty much any American carrier will do. A carrier with a poor accident rate is Aeroflot of Russia, but they use their own Russian built planes. The Airbus, being a European built piece of crud crashes more often than the American Boeing counterpart. I mean Americans invented the airplane so its reasonable to assume that we would also build the safest and most reliable planes in the world.

America West Airlines (now US Airways) has never had a crash in the 23 years it has been operating. The worst thing that happened as far as I know was the front wheel of a plane broke and the front of the plane scraped against the runway. So AWA is pretty safe.

I would say that an airlines (listed) safety record is the best to go by, preferably listed by a independent agency.

I think Singapore is the best in terms of service, but the airhostesses are like feathers who will fly away.

Sketchy third-world countries airlines are generally less safe... but air travel is still far safer than highway travel.
