Private dentists are a bit of a minefield and if you need any serious work done (ie root canal etc) then be prepared to pay SERIOUS money.

I have found that, as with most things, the best recommendation is word of mouth (no pun intended) so see if anyone you know can recommend one ... otherwise it is just a blind choice which is more than a little scary!

Go to www.yell.com, type in dentist and your post code and it will give you a list of your local dentists... It is hard to find a private dentist that won’t rip you off. You best bet is to go thought the NHS... Even thought they can be **** 2...

Ask friends or work mates to recommend their dentist, I doubt you will find a NHS dentist, my dentist went private years ago. Good Luck.

Your best bet is to get in contact with the NHS and ask about private dental care in your area.

You could check the yellow pages too, go to http://www.yell.co.uk/ an enter yoru details, it should give you a list of private dentists in your area.

As with all medical professionals, go to the local Association of Dentists for a referral.

if you try NHS Direct - number in phone book/yellow pages, they will probably tell you there are no dentists taking on new people so then you have to go on list, in the mean time just go through yellow pages til you find one! good luck
