Pigeon milk is not milk, it's simply the name that we use for the cottage cheese looking material that all pigeons/doves produce in their crop for their young.

Prolactin, a hormone, stimulates the production of this material. That same hormone also stimulates production of milk in mammals.

Now, the only reason I'm answering all of this is to make sure that people realize just what unique animals that pigeons truly are. They are an evolutionary wonder and there are many, many different species of pigeon/dove worldwide -- some with colors that rival or surpass any parrot, and all of them produce that pigeon milk.

Kidnap a pigeon (I suggest throwing a big coat over one and gathering it up). Take it home and very gently squeeze it's nipples. Collect the milk in a pint bottle and repeat every two hours. After about 3 years you may have collected enough to fill the bottle. Give it a good shake and Bobs your uncle...it'll be homogenized. Next let the poor bird fly away.

Sorry must be having a blonde moment, but I thought that pigeons lay eggs there for they are not mammals so don't produce milk.
