Norton has a lot of overhead but it's reliability is the trade off.
I would rather have my pc a lttle slower but have the reliability to go anywhere I choose on the net

2 opportunities are: a million)no longer sufficient RAM. if it is the case, the not straightforward disk gentle might want to flash plenty. possibly you've various different heritage classes operating besides. verify the bottom proper nook of the demonstrate. If there are more desirable than 6 little icons there, you're operating too many software programs concurrently. try a RAM improve (no want to spend more desirable than $40) 2)it would want to be appearing some initial scanning, besides the very undeniable reality that I imagine that would want to have occurred in the course of the setup. Kinda not straightforward to inform what's causing it with out searching at your laptop.

When automatic checking of an anti-virus program are enabled it always slows down the computer because it checks the virii in pages and mails before opening it. You can disable the automatic checking (check only manually) its a little risky but faster.

Because Norton is junk. Maybe the other things you can dump are all the junk that Norton failed to do anything about, like viruses.

if you're using xp goto run & type msconfig
You'll see a list of things that are starting up when the computer does. The only things you really need are your firewall & antivirus program.
PS I like AVG antivirus. It's free & small & works like a champ.
