Watch cooking shows on Food Network. You can always look up the recipes on foodtv.com if there's something you want to cook that you see made on any show there. I would suggest starting out watching Emeril Lagasse. He's fun and doesn't usually make stuff that's too complicated.
Also, look around for a cookbook that has stuff in it that looks like something you would be able to and want to make - like Betty Crocker or Better Homes and Gardens.
I learned tons both of these ways, and now I love to cook.

Here's what you need to do. Get yourself a Fannie farmer's cookbook. I was raised in a home where we helped in the kitchen from the time we could walk (and I also spent every morning in a family restaurant), so I know how to cook. I am always asked for help, from my friends. Every friend of mine gets a copy of this from me and within no time they are on their way to real meals. It explains cooking terms, substitutions, measurements, etc in terms real folks can understand.
Until you get the book, I would just buy some frozen meals. They make so many that taste like home cooking. If you toss the box, he wont know. (tip, if it gives a choice between microwave and oven on the box, use the oven if you can, it always tastes better.)
Good Luck and may your improving cooking and your genuine love nudge him to the alter.

There is a cookbook called 4 ingredient recipes. Its really easy to follow. My husband who never turned the oven on before was able to cook me a whole meal. And all the ingredients are really easy to find in any grocery store. Good Luck.

Get a cook book. No kidding. Just look through and see what you want to make, make a list of things, scratch out those that you have at home and go and buy the rest that you don't. Read and follow instructions. (Don't forget to wash the dishes)(humor). Good luck.

Hahahahaha i can't stop laughing for that person who said "chook boobs" hahahahahah omg....it's hillarious!!! Chook boobs ehehehehehehehe....Anyway, please get a cookbook a lot of bookstores carry them. The easiest thing you can do is pasta.Boil the pasta( i add a little oil to the water so the pasta doesn't stick)Afterwards drain it,then add your favourite toppings, for example cooked vegetables,I add mushrooms, red bell peppers, and if you have cooked chicken, add those. As for the sauce, this is my secret sauce you lucky thing you,put a little olive oil in the skillet, add crushed garlic to it,some salt, then add oregano, and any other herbs you like, dont let it burn, then add diced tomatoes, let that cook for a bit, then add it to the pasta. And it's YUMMY.Oh,don't forget to serve wine with it,or if you don't want to,serve tomato juice with a slice of lemon on the cup.Bon apetite.

G'day Jentown22,
Thank you for your question.
In the short term, you can shout him to dinner at a restaurant followed by a special night out then back home.
In the medium to long term, you can enrol in a cooking course. You might even want to go to the same course and both learn.
Best wishes to you and your boyfriend.
Regards

If you want to do it badly enough, get out a cookbook and find a simple recipe that you and he would both like. If you don't have a cookbook, maybe you will find a recipe on the Internet.
However, if you don't want to do it badly enough, why worry about it? Focus on something else that you are better at doing. Maybe you have a blender and can make him a drink with it?

CHICKEN MARSALA - In first frying pan, Cut boneless chicken into chunks or strips, coat with flour and cook in butter until all sides just start to brown, set aside. In second frying pan, melt butter and add fresh sliced mushrooms (lots) and cook until they just start to soften, add generous amount of Marsala wine and a couple of finely diced garlic cloves and cook for three minutes. Add chicken from first pan and cook until sauce thickens (flour from chicken will thicken sauce), Add a small spritz more Marsala wine ( to refresh Marsala wine flavor) and serve immediately.
