....trying so hard to be Hip?

I'm telling you, if I hear one more person in church say, "Wave your hands in the aaayah, wave em like you just don't care..!" I'm going to climb to the very top of the sears tower, and shout at the sky, "LORD, Lord, make it stop!" :OP

Read the prophetic passages in the Bible and you will see that the end state of Christianity before Jesus returns will fall away from the truth and turn to what the Bible calls"tickling of ears". The church today is a lukewarm church so you will find all sorts of that "stuff" in churches.

They are just trying different tactics to get the attention of our younger generation. Being raised in the church I can definetly understand how some churches go a little on the deep end with it. I'm still not sure how to handle this new "Hip Hop" church thing. I guess anything that gets the word of God across is ok but should their be limitations?

What church are YOU going to?

Actually, the trend that studies are showing would agree, that the "seeker-sensitive" model is losing momentum...the congregation seems to understand and need something that is more reverent, set apart. There is a swing back to the church of our parents going on in this country right now, as people understand you have to go more than skin deep to be spiritually nourished.

Read Joseph Campbell's mythology series...he proposes that when any organized religion/church replaces the original ritual and rites-often originally in Latin, Greek, German, Hebrew-with a modern vocabulary, modern "hip" music, modern "mentality"...that the congregation/individual will inevitably lose its sense of the mystic, its religious "feeling".

Ultimately, the modernization of the church will have the effect of having its parishioners going somewhere else-in search of that mystic experience....witness the growth of non-mainstream belief systems...Wicca, witchcraft, Gaea, Islam, Cabala, etc etc etc....

I go to church and see the words of a song printed in the program, I leave. Singing to me means singing the notes that make music an experience of praise to the listener. Those who think unison singing is what God wants to hear, don't know God.

although many will disagree, I firmly believe that 'to each its own'.. if one is interested in knowing the divine, one should approach this endeavor seriously, rather than seeking to feel comfortable in the commonplace and the everyday bs that is surrounding us.. I think that the priesthood is really getting desperate, forgetfull all the while of the attitude that one needs in spiritual endeavors.. it does tell a lot about their ultimate motives, and their (lack of) spiritual clarity .. this anything goes type of outlook is more fit for door to door sellers than supposed initiators into the divine

Because of loss of faith and conviction. The church of this time is confused and believes in its masses not in true belief. The church is supposed to be the people " the body" it doesn't matter where they meet or how many for that matter. It is what they do and believe that is truly important. I am sorry that you have to go through that.

Man! You are a blessing! For once someone was bold enough to point this out!

When the Christ says "we are not of this world", He meant business!

That is why I am so much against this Hippy Destiny's Child kind R&B-GOSPEL and Hip Hop in the Christianity...these are what Jesus Christ calls "TARES"...tares look almost like "WHEAT" but they are not wheat and they cannot be!

The reason we have Christians who are carnal(worldly) is because, in the first place, they came to Christ for something else other than to have a RELATIONSHIP with HIM....

Like those Christians who followed Him because He gave them food, and NOT because they loved Him:

John 6:26 -Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your FILL OF LOAVES."

John 6:65 And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father."

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER HE SAID THESE WORDS:

John 6:66 "After this many of his(Jesus) disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.

Hug!

hmmmmm. You know what? Their words are "against" the scripture. You might point this out to them.

There is a place that says: too reach out while praying. You are reaching our for GOD's help. ok?

They say, wave your hands like you "don't care?

That is wrong. 500%, according to scripture.

This is normally done by a lot of Pentecost and Assembly of God congregations.

They are just trying to appeal to a younger crowd. It is harder for them to draw in the youth of today and they are doing the only things they know how.
