No quite the opposite ,if you are dieting ,drinking 8 glasses of water a day will help you lose weight by cleaning out your system.
I have included a link for you to read on the topic of drinking water in relation to dieting and losing and/or gaining weight.

It can seem to do so on a short-term basis. If you don't drink water regularly and you start doing so, your body will initially hoard the water. After awhile your body will adapt and it will stop the hoarding. Also, there is a condition known as hyponatremia (see link below), or over-hydration from drinking too much water--hardly seems possible, but true. As stated in the article, it is more of a problem for endurance athletes, so not usually a valid concern.

No way!!! If anything you will loose. Water helps flush everything else out. You can always drink as much as you want. Water is a dieters best friend. If it happens to show up on the scale, know that its just water weight and it will pass through when you go to the bathroom a couple of times. Just don't drink yourself to death. I read about a woman who drank 14 gallons of water because she thought she had ingested some type of poison and her doctor had told her to drink plenty of water. As you can imagine that was a little much too much. Im sure as long as you stay under 14 gallons you should be OK.

By drinking water you can fool the weighing machines as the water you drank adds up to you body weight till the time you pass urine or lose it by sweat. This is normally the practice of cops who are periodically put under fitness test and those who are underweight drink plenty of water before they go to the weighing machine. In reality water does gain you any permanent weight in fact you lose salts and minerals and thereby lose weight.

Not the water itself. Salt in combination with it will. Salt, among many other things, makes people retain water. Also, since you're a girl you naturally retain more during different times of the month; however, there are certain birth control pills that make some women retain a lot of extra water as well.

No, you don't retain water when you're properly hydrated except during "that time", you know what I mean?
I read that drinking a lot of water keeps you hydrated and that helps you lose weight because your body's able to expel toxins and waste better.
Also:
It cleanses your system and keeps it running smoothly.
At least that what Oprah said on her show.
: )

No. But drinking too much water, way over 8 glasses a day, I read somewhere can make your brain actually swell. (not joking) I wish I could tell you where I read that but can't remember.

no, it will help you lose weight because the water would wash out the sodium your body retains. sodium makes your body hold fluid so drinking 8 glasses of water or more a day is good!

Its has 0 energy so no, even if it can make you hypotonic, probable hypoxic, and it is going to truly expend your elecytrolyte stages in case you drink to a lot. in worry-free words drink 2 liters an afternoon and be confident to eat something with potassium and sodium in it. Bananas dont have an excellent variety of sodium yet they do have some and are complete of potassium.

if you weigh yourself and then drink a litre of water then weigh again you will be 1 kilo heavier but you are measuring the water + body weight and not gain in your weight.

the body is 90+% water and requires plenty to stay healthy i think it is actually possible to medically drink too much water but i thnk it would be logistically difficult to do so - you would really have to try very hard to do it
